Kicking The Habit
Who ever knows anyone who is close to a smoker knows that this habit is one of the hardest. It's a multi-billion dollar industry that is still is accelerating in revenues every year.
I lost my grandfather a while back due to throat cancer. It was a sad time, but we knew it was coming. Right before he died he gave me one impacting sentence that has stuck in my mind to this day. He said, 'Don't drink, and don't ever smoke.' I was about 17 at the time, and sadly, it was one of the few things I remember him by. For years he tried quitting, but it was only until the doctor gave him his diagnosis, that he really did quit. Unfortunately it was about 5 years to late.
I also have a couple of friends that smoke. My best buddy is a smoker. He started about 2 years ago and has desperately tried to quit, but with no avail, other than the gum and patches. It really makes him upset to, because he's wanting to become a pilot and most major airline industries wont accept a smoker.
If your serious about quitting smoking, the best way to do it is not doing it completely alone. Try to be accountable with people that don't smoke. Outside help and determination are key elements to snuffing this one.
Here is a program that is gaining popularity within the ex-smokers community.
Here is one that says they can help you to quit on 1 hour and loose weight!
