Kid Math Games & more ...

Growing up as a kid/teen in the early and mid 90s, i always found math boring at best.

Now as an adult with a BSc Degree in General Psychology and Mathematics(Quite ironic and a BIG surprise to parents & peers alike), i am on a mission to provide resources to:

(a) Make a difference for today's kids, ultimately tomorrow's scientists.

(b) Help parents guide their (problem)kids.

### Quality Net Resources ###

Useful resources worth checking out

  • Finding the right gift for a gifted child can be stressful, and overexcitabilities of the gifted can make stress seem... even more stressful. A lot of work has gone into Carolyn's work (Winner of the NAGC Community Service Award, SENG Service Award, and the PAGE Neuber-Pregler Award).
Please hop over to Carolyn K's homepage and don't forget to support her cause.

  • I dunno. Is it just me or are elementary teaching resources ks2 and ks3 difficult to find? I found a very informative quality resource i wish to share with the community:
    Ks2 & Ks3 Maths learning.

Educational Rap (Jana's Tip)

Educational Rap

My niece Jana came across a very interesting website called Educational Rap that i wanted to share with the community.
What i find really appealing about the site is the "out of the box" approach on taking what kids of today love (=music) and putting a healthy twist into the equation, so to speak ;-)

The Better Behavior Wheel

Attention Deficit Disorder(ADD), also called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in the case of observed hyperactivity, is a neurobiological condition that can be characterised by the following symptoms:

  • Inappropriate levels of inattention.

  • Distractibility.

  • Impulsivity and restlessness or hyperactivity.

I've come across an interesting psychology model called "The Better Behavior Wheel" by Julie Butler (mother of four). It's an upbeat, fun, and totally unique tool for the management of child behavior problems.
Julie has come up with some great parenting advice that has helped 10,000 grateful parents. Say goodbye to overnight fights and the need to spank your kids.

I too hated math until I took classes in how to teach math using hands-on manipulatives. I now love teaching math and writing lenses about teaching math.

You have some interesting suggestions for online math games. You also might like to check out Fun and Games with Pre-Algebra.
