KID STUFF - TOYS FOR ANY AGE

Ranked #1,567 in Squidoo Community, #160,230 overall

Go Ahead And Have Fun

I love to take a break from grown up life now and then and do some kid stuff.

Well, what some people call kid stuff. I can sit down for hours with a coloring book. still love to go to a carnival and have my bedroom decorated like a circus. Nothing wrong with that I guess.

Oh yea, there is my Wizard of Oz Collection and Disney albums, clowns, and carousel horses. That's ok too, I'm just a big kid with my own house now.

Old And New Kid Stuff

I never really intended to have collections of things, it just happened over the years. Some things I have had for a long time. Many I saved because I just love having them around.

Some things I have purchased used, like my Circus Wagon and I have received many things as gifts. I don't mind if someone tells me, "I was at the store and saw this clown, it reminded me of you, so I bought it." That's better than a blender to me!

My Circus Wagon Bed

Personal Photo

You will have to look high and low to come up with a real circus wagon for sale. Luckily I found mine by accident in an antique shop. I wasn't even looking for one and I guess they didn't think it was worth having up front. I recognized what it was when the top of the wagon caught my eye. The antique shop was full so I had to wiggle my way through over to a back corner of the shop.

Except for a few dolls setting on it, this is the way it looked when I bought it. Someone who owned it before me had added a cushioned seat and added pillows making sort of a day bed. I tried to sleep on it but it is really a little narrow for an adult. Actually, I would rather look at it than sleep on it.

It still would work as a wagon if I ever decided to use it that way. Getting it back out of the house and friends willing to tackle that thing again would be the only problem. It was a trick to get it inside. It rolls and the front wheels turn, but it was really meant to be pulled by horses not men. Oooooooops. Sorry guys.

Circus Wagons

Kids love the circus and many start out with a circus themed bedroom. I never had one but do now!

There are lots of ways to bring some fun and whimsy into a childs room or your special part of the house.

Lighted Musical Circus Wagon And Horses For Christmas

The kitchen has not escaped my love of decorating with fun stuff.

I used the shelf above the sink to display my circus wagon set and carried the musical horse theme throughout the kitchen for Christmas one year.

Circus Ornaments

These are labeled as ornaments, but they would fit in anywhere with a circus theme.

Maybe a light pull for my ceiling fan is next.

Yep, Grandmaw Has A Gum Ball Machine

You can bet that this is a popular thing at my house. It works with any coin up to a quarter size. This works as a piggy bank to save all those coins or recycle them for more gumballs.

Carnivals And Amusement Parks

Sign Me Up!

I still love to visit carnivals and amusement parks and taking my grand kids is always lots of fun for all of us.

That would be me ( that you can't see) taking pictures from behind them on my own horse.

Santa Knows I Love Carousels

For Christmas one year, I received two horses decorated like the Carousel Horses I love. One black and gold and the other white with peach decorations. I was so excited! They lived in the living room for a long time.

Time To Redo The Living Room And Move The Horses To Greener Pastures, So I Thought I'd Turn My Round Tub Into A Carousel

Putting Together My Carousel Bathroom

I have most of the things ready to turn my bath tub into a carousel. From the picture above, you can see the concept I have. I have already put 3 free standing horses in the corners to give me an idea of how this would work.

I am planning to add one more and redo them all in coordinating colors that will go with the wall paper border I bought. The border won't be on the wall though, it will go across the top and bottom portion of the carousel. I am either going make a cloth top to enclose it or use wide streamers.

On the big window at the side, I want to make a faux stained glass carnival scene with Gallery Glass. I want to have the effect of being on a carousel and looking out at the other rides. Using Gallery Glass will let me make a custom design into a peal and stick type of stained glass that will be safe by the tub.

I have taken some pictures of carousel horses when I go so that I can have more ideas for decorating them

All I can say is, Stay tuned.... this might take a while.

Musical Carousels

I have lots of musical carousels. Some I can display anytime and some are mainly for Christmas.

The coolest one, I think, was given to me by a friend. It is a metal tea pot in disguise. When the water heats up and makes steam, the horses move around the outside the pot.

My miniature pet goats, what fun to watch them run, jump and play. Climbing logs and setting on porch chairs wasn't always enough fun for them. Playing king of the mountain on top of my car was better. I finally had to build a fence around my car so they didn't have to stay in a pen.

My Favorite Things - The Song

When I was a kid, movies and music were so much different in a sweet sort of way. Like some of the other songs from movies that have stuck with me over the years, the song My Favorite Things from the Sound Of Music has too. It is a happy song that reminds me of the things that bring so much joy to my life and things I am thankful for.

It was originally recorded by Julie Andrews but has been remade several times by different artist. It is now played a lot around Christmas time.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

I hope you have enjoyed a look at SOME of my favorite Kid Stuff.

This one page can not hold enough stories about all of the things I love to have around me. I try to hold onto all of the special things in my life in one way or another.

If you don't, I encourage you to let go a little and have some fun decorating with the things you love.

Life is full of troubles these days, so waking up to the smiling face of a clown works for me. Like the song says, " I simply remember my favorite things, and then I don't feel so bad!"

Well, I don't have much time to do my own kid stuff- I have a 7 year old boy who likes to have me dress up as a Star Wars character and play lightsabers, if I were to choose my OWN kid thing to do....eat candy till I throw up, roller blade, and get creative with the easy bake oven (yes, we have one). There is one thing we both like though... Harry Potter- we do dress in the robes and zap each other with wands!

This was too fun! I love the carousels and that you are so creative!

Cool stuff, I love the wagon bed. The carousel horses are really cool, but don't they take up an awful lot of room?

You have such fun, creative ideas! Your circus wagon reminds me of a toybox that my dad and grandpa made for my brother and I when we were little. My kids still use it now to play with and store their stuff! =D

I love your circus wagon bed, and it's fun how you have the picture of how the circus wagon is usually used too.... Nice imagery! It looks like you have a great collection!
