Kids Crafts- Making a Bird Feeder

Last week my son, like usual, waited until the last minute to inform me that he had a project due at school that needed to be turned in the next day. His class was learning all about recycling and he was supposed to make something out of objects he found around the house. He decided he wanted to make a bird feeder. Which turned out to be a great easy project.

How to Make a Bottle Bird Feeder

First, make sure your bottle is completely cleaned out and dry. Also remove the label.

Then you will need to cut out four squares a little bigger than the lid of the bottle cap, big enough the birds can safely stick their heads in and get some food.

You will also need to cut out 2 holes right below the lid big enough that you can fit a string or wire through to hang up your bird feeder.

Cut out holes for the perches. One hole beneath each of the four squares. The size depends on what you're using skewers, tree branches or pencils. We used 2 wooden skewers for ours.

Insert your tree branch, skewers or pencils all the way through the bottle (they will form a cross inside the bottle).

Attach the string through the holes on the top of the bottle and create a loop to hang up the bird feeder.

Add bird food using a funnel or a rolled up piece of paper.

Hang it up outside and enjoy!
