Valentines for kids -- boy-friendly!

There's no shortage of valentines crafts online, but many are too fluffy and frilly for boys to embrace. Yet class valentines are a tradition -- sometimes a requirement -- for boys as well as girls. Here, some fun homemade valentine card ideas that will appeal to both genders. 'Cause handmade valentines are always the best!

iPod valentine

ipod valentineOne of my son's classmates made this iPod valentine and used bright red paper instead of the pink pictured here. He used individually wrapped Rolos instead of the mini PB cups recommended, probably due to allergy concerns. This is my favorite of the kids valentine crafts I saw this year.

Rock candy valentine

you rock valentineYou can't go wrong with a variation on "You rock" for a boy valentine message. For this handmade valentine, the greeting is attached to a little bag of rock candy. Another fun option would be Pop Rocks -- one of my boys' favorite giveaways -- or some super-cool realistic looking chocolate rocks:

heart breaker valentine craftI wish I'd seen this in time to suggest this homemade valentine idea to my boys this year, on my search for quick but unique valentines for kids. Too fun! Just fill colorful paper hearts with M&Ms for the perfect non-sappy boy-friendly greeting.

Banana valentine

Robot valentine
