Kids Birthday Parties Ideas
As parents and grandparents we are supposed to love our kids birthday parties. That is not always so, if I think how many times I've struggled with coming up with an idea! Kids birthday parties ideas are not meant as an exhaustive guide, more simply to give you an idea of how easy it actually can be.
Kids do not have our high standards and they love being involved, so let them help. With my granddaughter Anabel's fifth birthday I helped her bake the cake herself and decorate it herself. It might not have been a masterpiece but she loved it. We had great fun and she was very proud of her cake. So, relax and enjoy the preparations, it does not have to be perfect for your kid to enjoy it.

Party Planning Ideas For Kids Parties
Planning your kid's birthday party can, and should, be great fun. As a grandmother, I can tell you, they grow up so fast, and before you know it, they're all grown up. So, enjoy every moment with them, including planning his or her birthday party!

Here is a checklist of things to decide and things to do:
On the day of the party, make sure to be well organized. Know exactly when everything needs to be done and leave enough time for every task. Make sure you are not all tensed up when the guests arrive because that will make it impossible for you to enjoy the party!

Here is a checklist of things to decide and things to do:
- First and most important decide on a budget. This is very important as this will decide whether you can afford to hire a venue or whether the party will have to at home.
- Make a decision on the venue. I really think your kid deserves more than a hamburger and a soda!
- Make a list of the friends your kid would like to invite to his or her birthday party.
- Here the size of the venue is very important and that is another reason why deciding on the venue first of all is important.
- At this stage it is also important to decide whether the parents of the guests are going to stay or whether they are just going to drop of their kids. Obviously the age of your kid and the little guests plays a role here.
- It is a good idea to decide on a theme for the party at this stage so the invitations can be part of the whole theme's idea.
- Now it's time to decide on the invitations. It is a good idea to make your kid part of this process. Why not make making the invitations a craft activity with lots of fun for you and your kid? This way every invitation will be unique and, not to even mention, cheap!
- Make sure you mention everything the parents need to know. (Party Invitations)
- Now it is time to plan the food.
- Next you need to plan all the activities for the party. After everything has been planned, draw a timeline to insure that everything gets done on time. Remember to make sure everything, but the food, is finalized in time to leave enough time to prepare the food on the last day to ensure freshness. Make sure you have enough space in the refrigerator for everything that needs to be kept cool!
On the day of the party, make sure to be well organized. Know exactly when everything needs to be done and leave enough time for every task. Make sure you are not all tensed up when the guests arrive because that will make it impossible for you to enjoy the party!
Kids Party Invitations
Successful Kids Party Invitations - great fun and they don't need to be expensive!A friend of mine recently showed me what he had done for his kids' birthday party invitation. It was really special. He has twin boys, aged eight, and was organizing a fancy dress party for them. He kitted the boys out in their favourite superhero costumes and took a cute photo. He then cut it out and stuck it onto a simple kid's birthday party invitation sheet that he bought, and took his handiwork down to the local print shop where he had a bunch of colour copies made.
The kids' party invitations were a huge success - as was the party! It seemed to encourage all the little guests and their parents to make an extra effort with their own costumes, and everyone had a great time.
Making special kids' birthday party invitations doesn't have to be difficult or expensive. All it takes is a little bit of imagination - and the whole project can be a lot of fun.
What should you include on the invitations?

You should decide what you need to communicate on the party invitations. The wording should be as simple and clear as possible. You should consider whether you want to include some or all of the following:
- Venue - is the location your house, a relative's house or even a commercial venue such as McDonalds or Chucky Cheese? Be sure that travel arrangements, if any, are clear and planned well in advance.
- Start time - and what ever you do, don't forget to include the day and the date!
- End time - very important as otherwise you could end up babysitting long after the party is over!
- Theme - is it a fancy dress party? Or is there a special theme, such as your child's favourite cartoon, movie or superhero? This is always nice to include, as it can give the kids and their parents ideas for present when they might otherwise be stuck or just get a boring run of the mill present.
- Party games and activities - if you are planning any out of the ordinary games or special activities - perhaps swimming - then it's important to mention this so that other parents are aware and send their children prepared, or let you know if there is anything a specific child can't participate in.
- Food - will you be feeding the children? If you are providing only small snacks be sure to let the other parents know so that they don't send the kids with completely empty stomachs, expecting a big meal.
Once you have the logistical details figured out, then the fun part begins - using your imagination to come up with an attractive idea for your kids' party invitations. The best way to get an idea, in fact, is to ask them - they will love being involved!

Kids' Birthday Party Invitations
Kids birthday parties ideas are easy to come at. Here is the checklist again to make sure you include all that is necessary in the invitations. Including the correct information is vital and leaving our something can spell disaster. So, do forgive me for repeating myself! There are so many choices of kids' party invitations! You can have anything from simple homemade invitations for your kid's birthday party to expensive personalized ones from a professional printer's shop.
The most important thing to remember is that kids' birthday party invitations must contain all the information that the guests and their parents will need to know to make the party run smoothly from start to finish.
Here is a handy checklist of what information you might wish to include on your kids' birthday party invitations. Not all of the items will be relevant, but working through the list and applying it to your specific party should help you to avoid missing off something crucial. You don't want to still have a house full of children at 10pm when the party finished at 5, nor do you want all the children to arrive already having had their dinner if you have bought in loads of lovely birthday party food!
Kids' Birthday Party Invitations Checklist
- When? Be sure to include a start time as well as a date. Also, put the day, e.g. Saturday, as well as the date in the month. It helps prevent any less organized parents from getting the wrong day!
- Where? If the birthday party is at your house this is nice and easy. Do put your full address including postcode and if any of the guests are coming from a distance and are not familiar with your area, consider including a map. If you are holding the birthday party at a commercial venue, they will probably offer you free brochures with a map that you can include in the envelope when you post or hand the invitations out.
- How long? It's really important to include a pick-up time; this is often forgotten but is one of the most vital pieces of information!
- Who is invited? Make it clear whether the parents are welcome to stay for the party or not. What about siblings?
- RSVP. You will definitely want to know how many guests to expect, so be sure to include instructions on how to let you know if the invitee can make it or not. This can be as simple as a note, "Please telephone this weekend to let me know if you can come to my party!" or if you wish you can have a little slip for the guest's parents to fill in and send back.
- Food and drink. Be sure to make it clear what refreshments you will be serving - a full meal or just nibbles?
- Themes and activities. Your little guests will want to know if there is a theme to the party so they can dress appropriately, and it may also help them to choose the right gift. Parents will want to know from the kids' party invitations what activities are planned so that they can let you know if a child isn't able to participate for whatever reason.

Including all the right information on your kids' birthday party invitations is the best start to a smoothly run party!

Panic-Free Party Decorations for Your Kid's Party
If you are in the unenviable position of having to throw your kid a birthday party, party decorations are sure to be on your mind. On the other hand, it has been known for a stressed parent to organize all the other aspects of the party and leave the party decorations right till the end, then panic and have to rush out and buy party decorations at top prices from a local department store. There is a better way! Plan your kid's birthday party decorations well in advance and you can have a stress-free, well organized and beautifully decorated party at a fraction of the cost.
The following may sound basic, but you will be surprised at how easy it is to forget something. Keep this check list at had to prevent a last minute panick!
The first thing you need is a full list of the party decorations and supplies that you will need.
Here is a handy checklist of party decorating things and items to consider for your list:
- Have you selected a party theme? Having a theme can actually make it a whole lot easier to decorate for the party as you will know what will go with your theme rather than being overwhelmed with a massive variety of choices.
- Wall banners or other kinds of wall decorations.
- Balloons - for outdoors such as the front door or front gate as well as for indoors.
- Door banner to welcome guests in style.
- Festive party tablecloth and other table decorations including themed paper plates, place name badges and napkins.
- Party hats - for any adults at the party as well as kids party hats.
- Party bags or small gifts for the guests.
- Table centerpiece - this could be the cake if it is going to be an impressively decorated one.
- Ceiling decorations.
- Streamers and other hanging decorations.
- Festive door curtains.

Homemade decorations - even if you will be buying in most of the kids party decorations ready made, it is nice to give the birthday child and any other kids in the family the opportunity to make some decorations. They will love doing it, and are sure to be proud to tell all the guests which party decorations they made themselves.
Finally, don't leave it to the last minute to ensure that you have all the fundamental bits and pieces you might need on hand - scissors, string, ribbons, plenty of sticky tack, sticky tape and double sided tape. Fishing nets are also good for filling with balloons or themed party objects.
Birthday Cake Ideas for your Kid's Party
There's nothing quite like the fun and satisfaction of making your child's birthday cake - and nothing like the joy of watching his or her face light up with delight at your amazing execution of just the right birthday cake idea.Selecting the right kids birthday cake idea
When trying to come up with an idea for your child's birthday cake, brainstorm their favorite hobbies, cartoon characters, animals and toys. You need to come up with something that will be truly exciting for your kid to see created as his or her birthday cake, and the choice also needs to be one which will translate well to a birthday cake design.
Tips for successful birthday cake designs
- First, ice your cake with a thin plain layer of icing. This will give you a good base on which to do your real icing without any crumbs getting in your way, and will give you a much smoother finish.
- Always let the cake cool properly before trying to cut any intricate shapes out, to minimize crumbling. To avoid crumbling even more, you can partially freeze the cake before doing your cutting out.
- Use thinly piped icing to draw the outlines of the shapes you will cut before attempting it with a knife. Excess icing can then be wiped off before it dries.
- For writing on the birthday cake, the thinner the piping bag you can use, the better. Carefully plan out where the letters will go before you start. Rather than starting to write from left to right as you normally would, it's better to start with the middle of the word first, placing the middle letter carefully in the center of the cake, then work outwards letter by letter to the left and right. This will give you a much more balanced result.
- When decorating a cake with multiple layers of icing, place the cake in the refrigerator for a little while between each layer so that it sets. This will make the job a whole lot easier and is worth the short wait - which also gives you the chance to do a bit of clearing up - and have a well-earned break and cup of coffee! After all, you need to make sure you have some energy left for the party!
Kids love to help too!
Finally, while giving the birthday boy or girl an amazing surprise birthday cake is always brilliant, children do love to help as well, and the younger they are the more they will enjoy getting involved. So why not consider whether the cake making session could itself be a fun part of the celebrations?
Fun Ideas for Kids' Birthday Cakes
Looking for ideas for kids' birthday cakes? If you're making a cake for someone special, then you are sure to want to come up with an attractive and original cake that they will love. The first thing to do is to think about the theme of the birthday party, if one is already decided. If there isn't a set theme, or if you are using the cake to decide the theme, then the place to start is just by thinking about the birthday child, and figure out what they like and what gets them excited.
Simple Kids' Birthday Cakes
Ideas for kids' birthday cakes don't have to be complicated to be a roaring success. The simplest idea, when executed well, can often be the most effective.
If your child loves animals then you don't need to ice a cake with a whole forest full of them. A simple dog, cat or lion cake is likely to be easier and just as much fun.
Cake Shapes for Kid's Birthday Cakes
You can buy cake tins in all kinds of special shapes, but often you can quite easily create the shapes you need simply by using round and rectangular tins that you already have, then cutting the cakes to the size and shape you need. Put the cake in the freezer for at least an hour first so that it is easy to cut without crumbling.
You can also use cup cakes to create three-dimensional effects and build unusual shapes.
Think Toppings!

Using something different than the norm for a filling or topping is a great way to make an unusual cake with minimal effort. A simple round cake with butter icing can be completely covered in your child's favorite candy to be transformed into a very warmly welcomed part of the party.
You could use jelly, whipped cream or fruit - think creatively and don't assume that the only thing you can put in or on a kid's birthday cake is icing.
An Easy Way to Put Pictures on Your Kid's Birthday Cake
A great final tip - if you want to copy a cartoon character or other picture onto your kid's birthday cake, simply trace the picture onto a piece of edible rice paper using a non-toxic crayon (e.g. Crayola crayon).
Then place the rice paper onto the frosted cake and pipe the outline in a dark icing color and fill in with whatever colors you like. The icing will dissolve the rice paper away, leaving your picture on the cake!
A Circus Birthday Bash Worthy of the Big Top
If you want a very happy child, consider throwing a birthday party worthy of the big top. A circus theme for a birthday party is sure to thrill and excite your little one and your guests as well. Be sure to make the event one worthy of its title though and keep the action lively and moving throughout the event so that little minds with short attention spans do not have an opportunity to move on to more mischievous pursuits. The first thing that is an absolute must for a circus theme is a big top. This may run a little high on the decoration dime but can be done quite nicely without booking a huge back yard with a tent. In fact, you can create a tent in your very own living room if you are so inclined. Helium can be rented quite inexpensively and you can create the illusion of a tent top by filling the ceiling with brightly colored balloons and streamers. In addition to this, you can have the entrance of the room made to look like tent flaps. Push all the furniture along the wall and allow the little ones to seat themselves on the floor along the "center ring" where all the action will be.
Now, you really should make an effort to have some sort of entertainment for the kids with an event of this nature. It can be a clown act, magic show, or simply someone making balloon animals for the birthday boy or girl and his or her guests. These balloon animals can then double up as party favors!
Face painting is another great activity to include in your list of events and shows, and a lot of fun for the little ones. Be sure to include several great games (ring toss, pin the nose on the clown, and corn hole are great games worthy of a circus theme) and a craft activity or two in the running so that the little ones do not sit idly very long. It is always a good idea to keep them occupied and having fun. Keep the kids short concentration span in mind and make sure the activities move fast from the one to the other.
The big top provides some excellent dining delights that carry over quite well into the birthday party theme. Hot dogs are an excellent lunch for a room filled with excited little ones. Candied apples, popcorn, and peanuts are also a great and fun addition to birthday party food and it works well with the circus theme. Be sure to enlist serious muscle for the clean up when all is said and done.
Goody bags can be a lot of fun for this particular event. Use popcorn bags for the bag and fill them with circus animals, bubbles, glow bracelets, circus themed stickers, and other nifty little items. Oriental trading and local party stores might prove an excellent resource for goody bag gifts. Don't forget to include a photo frame with a photo of each child with his or her face painted or balloon animal as a party favor.
The most important thing to keep in mind when planning a party worthy of the big top moniker is that everyone has a good time. Don't sweat the small details so much that you're unable to enjoy the event.
