Why You Need to Know About Children's Medic Alert Bracelets
I know how serious an allergic reaction can be. If your child has a potentially life-threatening allergy, he or she needs a medic alert bracelet. Any time my son has been around any type of medical professional, their first question involves his medical wristband. The fact that they notice it so quickly eases my worry a bit.
When I first started researching medic alert bracelets, I found plenty of bracelets for adults but I wanted something my son would not mind wearing. The one pictured here is my son's selection. I've searched numerous sites and I'd like to make your search just a bit easier.

The Importance of the Band
Why this alert band may save your child's life
A medic alert band could save your child's life
You won't find a better reason to buy one.
If an emergency happens while your child is at school or daycare or a friend's house, you want to make sure emergency personnel get that critical information quickly.
Not only will these bands display your child's allergy but their contact information as well. Some bands even have a 1-800 medical service number attached.
Medical ID bracelets have come a long way. Your child can find one that looks really cool. My son's friends have often asked how they could get a sports band like his.
Don't delay. If your child has a potentially life-threatening allergy or condition, check out these bands.

Choosing a Band
What to consider
Remember, emergency personnel often look to the neck and wrist first (taking the pulse) so a wristband, bracelet or necklace is probably your best bet to ensure quick response.
I recommend a waterproof band. Children are always getting their arms wet. They bathe, shower, swim, wash their hands in the restroom.
Also, although this sounds obvious, make certain your child is not allergic to the band. We have to make sure the site states a band is latex-free before ordering.
The amount of information you include depends upon you and the band. My son's band includes his name, our phone number and his allergy. Some people choose to add medications the child is taking as well.
Prices vary. You can buy bands as cheap as $10 to more than a $100. We spent $14.95 plus $10 for three lines of engraving. He loves his ID band and does not have a problem wearing it.
