How to Build a 4-part Kids Wealth Habits Bank (from "The Kids Bank Book")
Welcome! You're probably a parent who recently visited my How to Teach Wealth Habits to Your Kids Squidoo lens and wants to know about the 4-part bank for your kids. Great! You're in the right place.
[If you didn't come by way of my other "Kids & Money" lenses, then this lens will make alot more sense to you if I clued you in that my book The Kids' Bank Book is about teaching wise money management to your children with fun, ease, smiles and laughter. One of the tools in the book is a 4-part "Giving Bank," "Tithing Bank," or "Abundance Bank."]

What's in a 4-part "Giving Bank" or "Abundance Bank"?
A "Giving Bank" or "Abundance Bank" or anyother name for a 4-part bank usually has an aspect of donations to it.

- Christmas/Holiday/Birthday Gifts FOR Others part
How to Make a 4-part "Giving Bank" that Works
- Get 4 coffee cans (yes, I know Starbucks and DunkinDonuts don't sell coffee in cans, so maybe a short oatmeal container would work) for each child
- Put a large slot in the top of each
- Put all of your kid-friendly paints, markers, glitter, glue, scissors, stickers, inkstamps, construction paper, felt, yarn, ribbon and pipecleaners (and 4 containers) onto your kitchen table.
- Invite your children to the table
- STAND BACK - WAAAAAAY BACK
- After the children have fallen to the floor exhausted from artistic expression, let the artwork dry
- Get a shallow box bottom to hold each set of four cans
- Ask each child to write the Bank's name on each can (or on a paper and glued to each can) -
- More Money
- Spending
- Christmas/Holiday/Birthday Gifts
- Donations
- Insert an envelope into each can to hold the dollar bills neatly
- Smile - you and your children have done well :)
- Think to yourself, hmmmm, I bet they'll embrace their own creation more than that lifeless plastic sub-divided plastic thing that I almost bought and stuck onto their bookcase ;)
