    The princess themed cakes would definitely be the apple of my daughters' eyes! My wife made a princess cake (castle theme) for my oldest daughter's recent birthday and both girls just went to a princess party where they had a princess themed cake (castle theme, too!). As I noted on another lens, the themed cakes are great!

    My wife and I made a cake like the one listed at the top of this article (the princess cake with the turrets), only that it had a lowering drawbridge and windows with images of disney princesses looking out. It made for an awesome fifth birthday for our oldest daughter!

    You can't go wrong with a Scooby Doo or SpongeBob SquarePants cake for boys. I really liked the Strawberry Shortcake, too bad I don't have girls! Also liked the Backyardigans cupcakes....I'm going to have to try those sometime for my boys' birthdays. Great cake ideas, you put alot of work into this lens.

    What a gorgeous lens. We have a tradition in our house of crap birthday cakes - I make nice edible cakes, but decoration is not my strong point! Your lens has inspired me and made me determined to do better this year. I have favourited this lens. You must have spent a lot of time on it. If I use one of the recipes or patterns on here I will send you a photo of the finished product. Mister 3's birthday isn't till September, but I might have a few practice runs before then.     Wow, great lens. I am really going to do it this year, been saying that for last 3 years!     Wow, the treasure chest cake is awesome! My 7 yr old's birthday is not till Feb but he loves to do themes, especially if they involve play-acting and costumes, I might do a pirate theme just to make that cake.

    Great Lens, definitely a 5 stars! I love the cupcake tree! Some great ideas there, I make cakes as a hobby (not so much now that I have 2 kids under 2) but I would struggle with some of those! It really shows it can be an art form

    Wow! Enough options to throw a new party for a kid every birthday for the rest of his or her life! I especially like the trains. My wife and I are having our first child together (a little boy) in December. I've bookmarked this wonderful lens and will return to it soon.

    Great cakes and other items, this is a wonderful lens, 5***** well deserved. Cakes are so much more special now than when I was young. Back then the biggest thing was to blow out the candles and to get a piece of cake with as much icing as possible.

    I love planning my children's parties! Last year we did a pirate them and had a treasure hunt around the backyard and front yard. I made "clues" on "treasure maps", rolled them up like scrolls and each one let to the next clue. At the end of the chain of clues they found the treasure -- which was a treasure-chest shaped pinata.

    I'm definitely going to visit you site again when it's time to plan the next one!!

    Hi! I love your lens! It is going on my favs! My 3 year old is reading it with me and she is soooo excited over those cute cakes. I was looking for some inspiration for my daughter's first birthday party on Feb. 3rd. Her theme is "cupcakes." I will definitely invest in one of those cupcake stands for the party. I can't wait now!!
