About Bunk Beds
A bunk bed is a bed made up of two beds (one stacked on top of the other). The primary advantage to this form of bed is it allows more than one person to sleep above another utilizing a smaller space.
Kids bunk beds have become quite popular in homes with limited square footage and other places that have a larger number of people in a setting with limited space. Common examples include college dormitories, children's camps and rooms, military ships and buildings, prisons, etc.
A typical bunk bed has four supporting poles for each of the bed's four corners. In most bunks, the second tier is reached by either using a ladder or, in some cases, even a built-in staircase. A quality bunk bed usually also has safety features including guard rails and/or warning tags and signs. It is important to note that children under the age of 7 are generally recommended to use the bottom bunk. The top bunk should be utilized by the older child in families with multiple kids.
