Good Housekeeping Best Toy Awards 2011 - Gift List By Age Groups
Ranked #14,361 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #214,817 overall
A list for ages 2 through 8 and up.
Good Housekeeping tests and approves a new list of kids toys every year.
They selected 85 toys and then put them in a test room with real kids to see which ones make the grade with the people who actually play with them.
This year they have broken down the toy list into three age groups:
- 2 through 5
- 5 through 8
- 8 and up
I found the list for 5 and up to be a bit boyish but they are kids tested so the girls must have enjoyed them too.
I think I may buy a few of these toys for myself and use them to stimulate my own creative life. LOL.

Why Good Housekeeping?
Not only do the toys get chosen by kids ages 3 through 14 who actually handle and play with the toys, Good Housekeeping also conducts safety tests before the toys are chosen by the children. In fact, Goodhousekeeing presented 85 toys and worked with 115 kids before the final decisions were calculated.
The Good Housekeeping Research Institute has been testing and approving products for consumers since 1909.
Approved Toys Ages 2 - 5
That Hot Wheels Race Track is calling to me but so is the Toobers and Zots Foam Construction set. But since I don't have the space for teh race track, the construction set wins out!
Approved Toys Ages 5 - 8
Love the Illustrating Machine (comes in a boys version too, btw) but I think the BIG bionic style Power HAND is a must.
Approved Toys Ages 8 and Up
YIKES! I want every one of these cool, science and building toys. Better make room in my closets now--early Spring cleaning project before Christmas.
OMG a Bionic ear AND a Big Hand? Who could ask for anything more?
