Spring 2011 Kidsignments Schedule
The next event dates and times are:
The sale starts on February 15th, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please note that no children or strollers are allowed in until after 2 p.m. This is a firm policy set in place for safety, due to the large crowds.
Here is the schedule for the rest of the week:
Feb 16 - 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Feb 17 - 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Feb 18 - 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. (many items will be 25% off)
Feb 19 - 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. (many items at 50% discount)

*Friday, everything except items with "NR" on the tag will be 25% off.
*Saturday, everything except items with "NR" on the tag will be 50% off!
FYI: NR stands for Not Reduced, and is the signal from the seller to the sale organizers that the item is a fixed price, not to be marked down.
If you are looking for the slowest day to shop the Kidsignments sale, Friday is typically the quietest. I think it's because by that point, people decide to just wait for Saturday's 50% off deals.
You may also want to check the weather forecast for Lawrenceville before you go.

What are the Benefits for Kidsignments Sellers?
When you become a Kidsignments seller, you will get 70% of the selling price of your items. A $10 sellers fee will be deducted from the sales of your items.
You do not have to 'work' the sale like so many other kids consignment sales. People who volunteer to work the sale get extra benefits for doing so. But I have always liked that I don't have to be there, and the sale goes on for five days. All you need to do is ticket your items, attach them to hangers as instructed on the website, deliver them to the sale, put the items in their proper places, and then pick up whatever is left after the sale is over. If you have priced your items well, you will have very little to drag back home!
Sellers can participate in the Seller's Only Sale the evening before the sale opens to the public. A Preview Ticket will be provided, and they will need a photo ID to ensure you are a seller.

Is it worth it?
They keep 30%, and charge me a $10 "Seller's Fee?" Wouldn't I do better to just do a garage sale at my house?
I think there are several reasons that the Kidsignments sale organizers earn that 30% and the Sellers Fee.
A big advantage of selling at the Kidsignments sale is a point of safety - you will not have strangers coming to your house.
You will not have to devote a whole day outside to this. You price your items at home and deliver them to the sale. The sale goes on for 5 days, so if you have priced your items right, you should sell almost everything, and for higher prices than you can get at a garage sale at your house.
For instance, a pair of 2T Levi's jeans that you might sell for a dollar at your home garage sale will sell for $4 at the Kidsignments Sale. The 30% that Kidsignments sale takes is $1.20. Subtract the $1.20 from the $4.00 fee and you are still making $2.80, which is MUCH HIGHER than the dollar you would have received at your yard sale (if you were lucky enough to even have someone visit your sale who needed to buy 2T jeans)
Kidsignments does a lot of marketing and advertising to get the customers there. The sale also brings shoppers who have been coming to the sale for years. The people coming to the sale are there specifically for used children's items and they are ready to buy. Kidsignments has sent out postcards (printing and mailing expenses),spent money on postage for those postcards, and maintains the website with printable item tags, and puts up the sale signs on the road and picks them up at the end of the sale.
The Sellers Fee goes to rent portable air conditioning units and heaters as needed (if the customers are comfortable, they will stay longer and purchase more of your items, so this is well worth it). Kidsignments also hires off-duty police officers to be on the premises to keep everyone safe during the sale.
So yes, in my opinion, it is very worth it. If you have stuff cluttering up your house, this is a great way to get it out and make some money.

If You Go:
Shopping Kidsignments
Keep in mind that on the first day of the sale, strollers are not allowed in until after 2 pm (because it's so crowded, it's a safety issue)
Be sure to bring a laundry basket or something to carry all your purchases. Some people strap a laundry basket to a wheeled luggage carrier.
Some people even bring large wheeled clean trash cans! The deals are so good that it is often worth doing this.
Keep in mind that the checkout line can be long, but they do try to keep everything organized and moving.
Once you get to the checkout area, there is a person who will clip all your tags, count everything, and then you will go over to a person who will add it all up, and that's where you pay. Please be patient.
Bring a water bottle and a snack for yourself, and expect that there will be a waiting time. Make friends with the other people in line.

disappointed
Sep 27, 2011 @ 7:16 pm | delete
- I sold for the first time this year and boy was that a mistake. I took almost 200 items and priced everything under $5.00. I had probably 40 items around $1.00, clothes with brand new tags, name brand items(Old Navy, Gymboree,The Children's Place, Baby Gap, etc.) and I made less than $80 when my check arrived. For all the effort and time I put into pricing, driving 90 minutes one way down there for drop off day and sellers preview it was not worth me selling at all. I would have been better off to have kept my items and attempted a yard sale or better off donated them to a needy family. Once again, I priced EVERYTHING to get rid of, and hoped to make some Christmas money. I barely paid for my gas for 360 total miles there and back 2x's. I hope others have better luck. I definetely feel ripped off, especially after finding out that coordinator profits over $100,000 a year off of just 2 sales annually. Guess she got my profit this time, but never again will I sell here.
