Themed parties are really fashinoable at the moment. There is such an array of possible topics to base your birthday party on - from cave men to space themes and everything in between.

Themed parties are an excellent excuse for fancy dress. Costumes allow your guests to be fully immersed in the theme and have a great time.

Trimming up the venue really gets you into the party spirit. I loke to choose really bright balloons, banners, streamers and bunting and really go wild!

If you have decided to go for a themed party, you can get loads of life-sized cut outs, scene setters and other themed party decorations to turn an empty room into the stage of your choice.

Children love to play party games and they are always good to fill up some time during the day.

The birthday cake is the best part of any party. I have always been very lucky and have a great Dad who would make me the best Barbie/My Little Pony/Rainbow Bright (or whatever was my current favourite) cake for my birthday every year.

No matter how much enthusiasm you have, even the best of us find it hard to keep children entertained for hours on end. I recommend you get the assistance of some hired help, whether they be a magician, balloon modeller, live band or mobile disco.

Whether you decide to put on a spread yourself, enlist the services of mobile caterers or book a restaurant for the party, food will always need careful consideration.
