Another Inspiring Young Boy
"More than one million children are homeless in the United States. To highlight the problem, eleven-year-old Zach Bonner walked hundreds of kilometers from his home city of Tampa, Florida to the U.S. Capitol, in Washington, DC. Along the way, Zach helped out at shelters for the homeless. In this week's installment of our series, Making a Difference."Eleven-Year-Old Boy Walks to Help Homeless Children

Kids For Clean Water
Ragen Elementary's Kids Are Budding Entrepreneurs
From The Global WaterChallenge website "We visited Ragen this March and saw how a little investment can make a huge difference. The schools program provided water infrastructure and education about water safety. The students were inspired to start a "health club" to share what they had learned and track student health and attendance.
The results? Attendance is up, families are healthier, and Ragen is the number one academic school in the district!
When they discovered they could purify enough water for the entire school for only $16 a year, they took matters into their own hands and started a vegetable garden. The students hope that sales from their garden will earn them enough to buy WaterGuard, which keeps their water clean all year round."
Free The Children
According to their website "Free The Children is the world's largest network of children helping children through education, with more than one million youth involved in our innovative education and development programs in 45 countries. Founded in 1995 by international child rights activist Craig Kielburger, Free The Children has a proven track record of success. The organization has received the World's Children's Prize for the Rights of the Child (also known as the Children's Nobel Prize), the Human Rights Award from the World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations, and has formed successful partnerships with leading school boards and Oprah's Angel Network."Here is an example of what it is all about.
It is unbelievable what a group of young students can do when they join their efforts for a common cause. In this case, the students of broward Conty concentrated on raising money to build schools in Kenya for the non-profit Free the Children. And raised money they did,.It added up to $93,450.14 -- enough to build 11 schools in Kenya.
Broward County students raised enough money to build 11 schools thousands of miles away in Kenya.
