Summertime...means a lot of different things to people. Vacations, or perhaps a Staycation, holidays, weddings, graduations, swimming, picnicking, reunions, and family activity time.
With all the different ways we spend our summer months, one thing is certain, we have more time for Summer Toys and Activities.

Today's children have so many fascinating toys and activities to choose from to celebrate summer. Children can choose from Water Fun, Skating, Playhouses Swings and Gyms, and Bicycling. While these activities provide entertainment, they also encourage children to be more active, which is good for their health.

Summer is also the time of year for Family Reunions and Picnics. It is a wonderful opportunity for family members of differing generations to spend together time sharing and perhaps passing along family history with one another.
There is also something magical about everyone sharing an outdoor activity together.
Here are three ideas for sharing time with families at picnics, reunions, or gatherings:
Scavenger Hunt Kids of all ages love scavenger hunts! Follow these tips for a successful Scavenger Hunt: 1) Make a list of items to include on the scavenger hunt, 2) Give on e list to each team, 3) Share the ground rules such as staying in the yard, not going inside, 4) set a time rame that the hunt needs to be completed. The team to complete the hunt with the most items wins!!

What summer would be complete without Ice Cream? Not really a craft, but oh so much fun to make, the entire family can help and will enjoy the delicious treat! Make your own Ice Cream with this Ice Cream Ball! Try It Today, the flavor possibilities are endless! This portable ice cream maker will provide hours of delicious fun!
Our town is lucky enough to offer a camp for children each weekday morning. One timeless craft that the children enjoy is Popsicle Stick Crafts. With this craft children can make picture frames, pen and pencil holders, or puppets, to name a few items.
As a new parent, my daughter and I attended a co-op nursery school. One of the most memorable morning crafts was making play dough. The recipe is quick and easy and always delights. Here is the recipe from our Mom's morning nursery class:
Ingredients
3cups of Flour
1 1/2 cups of Salt
3 cups Water
2TB. Vegetable Oil
1TB. Cream of Tartar
Few drops of Food coloring
Directions:
Mix ALL of the ingredients in a large saucepan.
Cook over medium low heat, until the dough comes away from the edges of the pan and it becomes difficult to move the spoon. Remove from heat. Cool until it can be handled.
Place on counter or wax paper knead 3-4 times.
Store in an air tight container.
