Kieren Perkins - Australian Swimmer

Kieren Perkins is one of the best swimmers in the history of the sport of swimming and arguably (together with Grant Hackett) the best long distance freestyle swimmer ever.  In many respects, Kieren changed the face of swimming, with television cameras beaming his feats at Australian Championships into the living room whenever he swam a 1500 freestyle - and many times, he swam world records.

Perkins was also the first person ever to win a medal in the 1500 metres freestyle at three consecutive Olympic Games, 1992 Gold, 1996 Gold, 2000 Silver.

Kieren remains heavily involved in swimming and sport in general and his professionalism and performances both in and out of the pool have opened the door for many talented Australian swimmers to follow in his foot steps.
