The typical American home has a television on for eight hours and 18 minutes each day

On June 12th 2009, all analog tv broadcasts in the USA stopped, causing millions of television sets to no longer receive or display tv shows unless the owners has bought converter boxes or signed up for cable tv service. Instead of paying for hundreds of channels where it seems like "there's nothing ever on," why not consider the option to just stop watching television?

Given the state of the economy, that money you'd spend can probably go towards something more useful to you, can't it?

Mental Detox Week
The idea is simple: take your TV, your DVD player, your video iPod, your XBOX 360, your laptop, your PSP, and say goodbye to them all for seven days. Simple, but not at all easy. Like millions of others before you, you'll be shocked at just how difficult - yet also how life-changing - a week spent unplugged can really be.
Ten Reasons To Turn Off Your TV - Stepcase Lifehack
Watching television could hardly be described as a productive activity. I'd like to see something flip that in an article about TV Productivity, but until then it may be better turned off. Here are Ten reasons:

Giving Up TV
It's been over a year since I wrote about reducing TV viewing, and since then several readers have told me about their experiences giving up television completely. Some claimed not to have watched any TV in years. Reported benefits included better mental clarity, (desired) weight loss, exploring new hobbies, better relationships, more energy, higher productivity, greater emotional stability, and even better sex. A few people told me it was one of the best lifestyle changes they've ever made for themselves and their families.

I don't watch tv as there's nothing any good on nowadays, but I do have a tv for watching wholesome videos like "Little House on the Prairie".
