I AM: Kimberly Dawn Wells

Ranked #481 in Squidoo Community, #60,561 overall

I AM: too many things!

Who is Kimberly? That's a question I've often asked of myself. It seems to change nearly every day and has taken me on quite the incredible ride. Like myself, this lens has been many things, and when I recently started refurbishing it, I was only reminded again how much my life has changed over the last few years. I'm doing things now I never expected to do in a lifetime!

I AM: a Geek Squid (and Squidoo's Community Organizer)

See? Even my lens confirmation says so!

I recently became the Community Organizer for Squidoo. What does this mean for you? More help creating lenses and bringing in lots of fun new groups to share in the Squidoo experience.

If YOU need help using Squidoo, you can learn more about using Squidoo at Do Squidoo: A User's Guide and visit the Squidiction Group!

I started the Security Word Thesaurus as a joke, but it keeps growing with all the cool new words I find!

Ooooooh new buttons to play with! The new Squid Angel program was unveiled by The Megan and I am proud to be an honorary Squid Angel. This means that I get an additional chance to bless a lens I think rocks.

I AM: A Former Firefighter

"Oh, a fire WOMAN!" People always seem to get so impressed by this. It's like they suddenly don't know what to call me or how to act. Firefighter is fine.

I joined the Medford Area Fire Department in August, 2004 and it was a blast. I wish it had been busier. People think that's weird. It don't want people to go out and get hurt, but a doctor didn't become a doctor so people could "not get sick," and I didn't become a firefighter so I could "not play with big red trucks, power tools, and massive quantities of water."

In the spring I also work for the DNR as a wildland firefighter. 2006 was my first year doing that and it was a lot of work. Most days we sat at the ranger station from 9 AM to 7 PM, and then JUST as we were getting ready to leave...BEEBEBEBEBEBE off goes the pager. I was lucky in that we didn't have any super large or super long calls, but it does get hard on the career guys who work 50-70 days straight each spring.

I resigned from the department in 2009 to pursue personal and career goals, but I do miss it. I can always go back - volunteer departments can never have enough help with big things go down!

I AM: A CafePress shopkeeper

Several years ago I designed a shirt on CafePress as a joke for my boyfriend. I left it up and sold a few, and decided to give a real shop a try. For the last few months, Elegant Mischief has been one of the fastest growing websites I've ever designed.

I designed everything you see on the store, and have done personalized merchandise for groups and individuals. I do designs on demand, meaning if you think of something that you want, I will create it for you. Even if you're just looking to put your name on a shirt or your puppy on a postage stamp!

This is the store that is making it all happen! Sales are up up up and more and more people are finding out about the great stuff that Elegant Mischief offers.
Breast Cancer 101
If you're interested in supporting someone who has breast cancer, this is THE place to shop! You can find shirts and gifts for yourself and others, and even get "I Wear Pink for..." and "I Wear Pink in Memory of..." shirts personalized for FREE.
Brain Cancer 101
Mimicing the Breast Cancer 101 shop, this store is selling shirts faster than I can design them! Check here for "I Wear Grey for..." shirts and our great new, soon to come "I Wear Grey in Memory of..." shirts and "Use Your Head" shirts. Personalization will also be available on these - just ask!
911 Power!
I've taken the emergency services, heroes, and patriotic designs and combined them on the 911 Power! shop. Every day I'm adding more new designs for military, firefighters, ems/paramedic, law enforcement, hazmat, volunteers, hometown heroes, and other patriotic categories.

I AM: An Author

On December 17th, 2004 at 12:15 AM, I finished my first book. It had been 6 years in the making and I finally just decided to sit down and put it into words. Soon afterwards, I decided to quit doing web design and write full time.

I AM: A LiteBrite Lover

I had a LiteBrite when I was three or four, and 20 years later in the fall of 2006, I for some strange reason had a burning need to get my hands on a LiteBrite. They're hard to find around here, but Mom got me one for Valentine's Day! I've been using it to procrastinate ever since.

I AM: Musical

I've been playing the piano since I was five, violin since I was eight, and drums since I was 14. I play a lot of other things too, just not as well or as often. I love all sorts of music, including classical and instrumental, hard rock, country, and jazz.

You can check out my favorite sheet music, or read on to find out what I'm listening to on my MP3 player right now and vote for what YOU think is hot.

I AM: A reader

I started reading when I was three and haven't put a book down since. I've amassed an extensive collection of books ranging from science, mystery, and romance fiction to self-help, business development, and marketing non-fiction.

I've taken the best 3-5 books from each category of my personal business library and created the Build a Business Library lens. These are all PERSONAL recommendations of books I own, have read, and have written in.

I also have a newly created lens titled Kimberly's Bookshelf. It's a BIG lens, because I have and read a LOT of books!

I've found that reading helps you be a better writer. The more you read, the more you pick up on techniques and themes that other successful authors use, and you incorporate them into your own work. Some of the best ideas for writing have come when I was reading.

Here's a short list of what I recently read or am currently devouring:

I AM: Being stalked by Stewie Griffin

Ok, well maybe only online, but still. It's a fascinating thing.

The current version of the Stewie Griffin page has gotten really big! There are so many shirts, posters, toys, and other great Stewie things you can buy online that it filled an entire lens and then some. You can even get Stewie Griffin bath slippers. Interesting.

Stewie Griffin: The Family Guy's Diabolical Baby Genius

I AM: A Redhead

When I was in high school I dyed my hair brown to cover the grays. Honest! It runs in the family! I am a BIT more lucky in that my hair is more silver than gray, and I don't get the thick, white hairs that stick straight out of your head, but it's gray nonetheless. (Is this my version of male pattern baldness?)

Then about three years ago I started dying my hair red. THAT was fun! Now it's short, curly (naturally), and red, and always attracts attention. What really amazes me is that just after I've dyed it people will say, "Hey, you look good as a redhead." Um...I've had red hair for four years, where have you been?

This is a new photo that I took of myself with my nifty new camera phone. It doesn't do my hair justice...so I'll have to try again once I redye it.

It's true, redheads have more fun

I AM: Cynical

I love Gaping Void cartoons. They're so amazingly simple, to the point, and make me crack up in 10 words or less.

I AM: Red

Red is Your Color:

You boast incredible willpower and are capable of overcoming obstacles that would normally leave others shaking in their boots. You have a penchant for colorful environments and often impress others with your energetic bursts of energy. Your interests in many areas of life often leave you scattered, but when you focus you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.

What's Your Color?

I AM: A Detroit Red Wings Fan

Ok, so I didn't become a fan until AFTER I left Detroit, but a hockey team that wins three Stanley Cups in six seasons deserves some recognition. Unfortunately, they got booted from the playoffs last year, but even without long-time Captain Steve Yzerman and Shanahan...well, boo to that - I'm looking forward to a great 2006-2007 season.

I AM: June 23rd

Happy birthday to me! The following was sent to me by my buddy Brian in Minneapolis:

Your birthday, June 23rd
Many socialites, including royalty, share this birthday with you, but before you get any ideas and polish your star, let's consider if that's really any advantage. It is, in business and commerce, and when champagne is flowing, but you, dear reader, may not be dipped in sacred rivers and be cuddled in the lap of luxury. Playing the part is fun - and playboy, the lover, Miss Silver Spoon, or Miss America. A lot of your appeal can be traced to your family whom you should always keep happy.

Your good memory and verbal superiority are not always noticed, nor do you use them fully in your career, though you should try to - don't secretly sell yourself short. Be determined to learn, practice, and deliver. Be entertaining as well as entertained, and use your power and control with utmost courtesy.

Love:
You're either too much or not enough in love! You are happiest with partners who accept your needs and mood swings, someone whose patience and understanding are not depressing or too demanding; happiest with a serious older lover. You appreciate and enjoy play-time and private moments and, once committed, hold securely and steady. You don't take affections or emotions lightly, and are philosophical and fun, yet wise.

Money:
You think big and have grand ambitions but often overlook the importance of the little things and get nervous about details. You perform well in structured environments, but not so organized that you lose your freedom to explore and experiment. Don't let the fear of making a mistake keep you from making more money, or moving forward. You're a sublime combination of cooperation and genius!

I AM: A military brat

My dad was in the Coast Guard for 23 years and I've lived in a lot of interesting places. Of the places I've lived, some were more memorable than others.
Giovanni Bakery in St. Clair Shores, MI
My mom and I worked at this bakery for a few years while we lived there over 10 years ago. I haven't been there for about 5 years, but at the time they made their own bread, desserts, pasta, and lemon ice. They have the best cannoli's EVER, so if you're anywhere near Detroit, stop by and pick up a dozen. Eat one for me!
National Zoo in Washington DC
When I lived in Woodbridge, VA we visited the National Zoo. My favorite exhibit is the panda habitat. Baby Tai Shan recently celebrated his first birthday! I love pandas and you will see a lens on giant pandas soon.
Detroit Red Wings
I actually didn't become a hockey fan until after I left Detroit for Sturgeon Bay, WI. That year the Red Wings won the first of three Stanley Cups in a six season stretch. Although disappointed that they lost in the playoffs this year, and that Captain Steve Yzerman is leaving, I'm looking forward to seeing a game next fall!
Tower City Center in Cleveland
Check out Tower City in Cleveland, OH for fun shops and a great way to spend your day. The Tower is home to Cleveland's Hard Rock Cafe, Godiva Chocolatiers, and is within walking distance of the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame.

I AM: Cartoony

Toothpaste for Dinner
It was so innocent. I was doing a search on fire extinguishers and I came across one of the TFD cartoons. I fell in love. I forgot what I was supposed to be doing and spent a few hours on the site looking at cartoons and nearly dying of laughter.

I AM: Popular

According to the Social Security Administration, Kimberly was ranked the number 14 most popular girls name in the US in 1982 when I was born. Strangely enough, I know very few people my age with the name Kimberly.

Even in 2005 Kimberly made the top 100 list at number 63. In 1966 and 1967 Kimberly topped out at the second most popular girls name in the US, with Lisa being number one for both those years.

I AM: Really busy!

But there are a few hobbies I enjoy. When I'm not working, you can usually find me:
  • Playing Sudoku
    Only the hardest ones!
  • Crocheting Scarves
Scarves are about the only thing I know how to crochet, because I only know the simple stitches. But never fear! I'm quite crafty with colors and yarn styles.
  • Playing World of Warcraft
Yes, I admit, I play. Not often, and not well, but it's a good way to take your mind off work and think creatively.
  • Working out
I love pilates, kickboxing, running, and weight lifting.
  • Getting a massage
    My guilty pleasure.

I AM: More!

Can't get enough of me? Ha, you will soon. ;) Here are a few more "main" lenses I've created for various uses and reasons.

You have an interesting profile. I found it while I was looking for a Stewie Griffin quote. I don't actually like "Family Guy," but I enjoy Stewie's over-the-top ego. I see you are a former firefighter. So am I (Albuquerque District 10 volunteer). I see you are a CafePress shopkeeper. So am I (I never could do anything with it, so I haven't been there in years). And, you are an author. Uh, so am I (it's a theological book about an arcane subject that most people haven't even heard about). Yeah, I'm also a military brat. I enjoyed it so much, I joined the company (Navy). As for being musical, I'm not at all. Nope. The only reason I sang with the University Chorus when I was in high school was that I had to wait for my mom, anyway. I do have an ALW "Phantom of the Opera" musical spoof I would like to produce, but that's just slightly beyond my current ability.

As I see it, the most likely explanation for these similarities is, one of us is the evil, anti-matter twin. If we ever meet, we will annihilate!
