I started the Security Word Thesaurus as a joke, but it keeps growing with all the cool new words I find!
Ooooooh new buttons to play with! The new Squid Angel program was unveiled by The Megan and I am proud to be an honorary Squid Angel. This means that I get an additional chance to bless a lens I think rocks.
I AM: A Former Firefighter
"Oh, a fire WOMAN!" People always seem to get so impressed by this. It's like they suddenly don't know what to call me or how to act. Firefighter is fine.I joined the Medford Area Fire Department in August, 2004 and it was a blast. I wish it had been busier. People think that's weird. It don't want people to go out and get hurt, but a doctor didn't become a doctor so people could "not get sick," and I didn't become a firefighter so I could "not play with big red trucks, power tools, and massive quantities of water."
In the spring I also work for the DNR as a wildland firefighter. 2006 was my first year doing that and it was a lot of work. Most days we sat at the ranger station from 9 AM to 7 PM, and then JUST as we were getting ready to leave...BEEBEBEBEBEBE off goes the pager. I was lucky in that we didn't have any super large or super long calls, but it does get hard on the career guys who work 50-70 days straight each spring.
I resigned from the department in 2009 to pursue personal and career goals, but I do miss it. I can always go back - volunteer departments can never have enough help with big things go down!

I AM: an Action and Adventure Fan
I have a great list of Action Flicks for Chicks who like things that blow up. Find a great action flick today on Netflix.
Also, a note on Netflix: I own about 300 VHS tapes and they're cluttering up my room. With my new Netflix subscription, I can rent the DVD's I want to see and not have to own the ones I don't watch as often. I can also buy used DVD's for less than $10, and sometimes less than $6! If you haven't tried Netflix yet, it's well worth it. I was skeptical but now I'm into my first full month and I love it. No more dinking around with the video store and having to return movies I didn't get to see because I was interrupted by a fire call. No late fees or $5 charges for new releases. I can rent three new releases locally or get a month of unlimited two-at-a-time rentals. Hrm...tough choice!

I AM: A LiteBrite Lover
I had a LiteBrite when I was three or four, and 20 years later in the fall of 2006, I for some strange reason had a burning need to get my hands on a LiteBrite. They're hard to find around here, but Mom got me one for Valentine's Day! I've been using it to procrastinate ever since.

I AM: A reader
I've taken the best 3-5 books from each category of my personal business library and created the Build a Business Library lens. These are all PERSONAL recommendations of books I own, have read, and have written in.
I also have a newly created lens titled Kimberly's Bookshelf. It's a BIG lens, because I have and read a LOT of books!
I've found that reading helps you be a better writer. The more you read, the more you pick up on techniques and themes that other successful authors use, and you incorporate them into your own work. Some of the best ideas for writing have come when I was reading.

I AM: Being stalked by Stewie Griffin
Ok, well maybe only online, but still. It's a fascinating thing. The current version of the Stewie Griffin page has gotten really big! There are so many shirts, posters, toys, and other great Stewie things you can buy online that it filled an entire lens and then some. You can even get Stewie Griffin bath slippers. Interesting.

I AM: A Redhead
When I was in high school I dyed my hair brown to cover the grays. Honest! It runs in the family! I am a BIT more lucky in that my hair is more silver than gray, and I don't get the thick, white hairs that stick straight out of your head, but it's gray nonetheless. (Is this my version of male pattern baldness?)Then about three years ago I started dying my hair red. THAT was fun! Now it's short, curly (naturally), and red, and always attracts attention. What really amazes me is that just after I've dyed it people will say, "Hey, you look good as a redhead." Um...I've had red hair for four years, where have you been?
This is a new photo that I took of myself with my nifty new camera phone. It doesn't do my hair justice...so I'll have to try again once I redye it.
It's true, redheads have more fun

I AM: Red
Red is Your Color:You boast incredible willpower and are capable of overcoming obstacles that would normally leave others shaking in their boots. You have a penchant for colorful environments and often impress others with your energetic bursts of energy. Your interests in many areas of life often leave you scattered, but when you focus you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.

I AM: A Detroit Red Wings Fan
Ok, so I didn't become a fan until AFTER I left Detroit, but a hockey team that wins three Stanley Cups in six seasons deserves some recognition. Unfortunately, they got booted from the playoffs last year, but even without long-time Captain Steve Yzerman and Shanahan...well, boo to that - I'm looking forward to a great 2006-2007 season.Detroit Red Wings News, Facts, and History

I AM: June 23rd
Your birthday, June 23rd
Many socialites, including royalty, share this birthday with you, but before you get any ideas and polish your star, let's consider if that's really any advantage. It is, in business and commerce, and when champagne is flowing, but you, dear reader, may not be dipped in sacred rivers and be cuddled in the lap of luxury. Playing the part is fun - and playboy, the lover, Miss Silver Spoon, or Miss America. A lot of your appeal can be traced to your family whom you should always keep happy.
Your good memory and verbal superiority are not always noticed, nor do you use them fully in your career, though you should try to - don't secretly sell yourself short. Be determined to learn, practice, and deliver. Be entertaining as well as entertained, and use your power and control with utmost courtesy.
Love:
You're either too much or not enough in love! You are happiest with partners who accept your needs and mood swings, someone whose patience and understanding are not depressing or too demanding; happiest with a serious older lover. You appreciate and enjoy play-time and private moments and, once committed, hold securely and steady. You don't take affections or emotions lightly, and are philosophical and fun, yet wise.
Money:
You think big and have grand ambitions but often overlook the importance of the little things and get nervous about details. You perform well in structured environments, but not so organized that you lose your freedom to explore and experiment. Don't let the fear of making a mistake keep you from making more money, or moving forward. You're a sublime combination of cooperation and genius!

I AM: Jane Fonda
What? Or more precisely, Jane Fonda is me! In the movie The China Syndrome, she plays a TV reporter named Kimberly Wells.
The China Syndrome is a 1979 thriller film which tells the story of a reporter and cameraman who discover safety coverups at a nuclear power plant. It stars Jane Fonda, Jack Lemmon, Michael Douglas, Scott Brady, James Hampton, Peter Donat, Richard Herd, and Wilford Brimley.
The movie was written by Mike Gray, T.S. Cook and James Bridges. It was directed by Bridges.
It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Lemmon), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Fonda), Best Art Direction-Set Decoration (George Jenkins, Arthur Jeph Parker) and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen. The film was also nominated for the Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) at the 1979 Cannes Film Festival and Lemmon won Best Actor for his performance. The movie's script won the 1980 Writers Guild of America award. The China Syndrome (1979) - Awards
The title refers to the concept that if an American nuclear plant melts down, it will melt through the Earth until it reaches China (see China Syndrome). China is a metaphor, as the opposite side of the globe from the USA is actually the Indian Ocean.
The film was released on March 16, 1979, just twelve days before the real-life events at Three Mile Island, Pennsylvania. The Three Mile Island accident helped propel The China Syndrome into a blockbuster. The China Syndrome: Special EditionTop grossing movies for 1979 in the USA
