What I seek in NYC!
On my third trip to NYC in May 2008, I set shopping goals for finding great clothes in Manhattan. My guide is Kangai, a shopping and fashion expert who is interning with Squidoo at the loft. We're headed downtown to Century 21, Strand, and some other great discount stores to see if I can find what I'm after!
A great jacket
I'm almost always cold, and it would nice to have a great jacket I can wear over summer shirts to keep me warm. Maybe tan, heavy linen or denim-type fabric, fitted - something more stylish than my nearly-blaze-orange Columbia fleece zip-up. (Not that there's anything wrong with it. I love my zip-up.

A long, flowy skirt
I love the look of peasant skirts but I have a hard time finding skirts that look good on me and my curves. I would love to find a long, comfy, swishy skirt to wear in situations that are more formal than jeans but too warm for black slacks.

Chunky, hip, unique necklaces
A necklace can make all the difference in a neckline. Having pale skin, lower crew cut and v-cut necklines are hard for me to pull off. A few great necklaces, even costume jewelry, would help me make more of my shirts work.

Shoes to wear with shorts or skirts
Some shoes just aren't made to be worn with skirts or shorts, and I don't own a lot. Kangai found some awesome lime-green platform sandals at Payless for $5. I'm not that brave, but I bet we can find some great deals.

Awesome NYC shirts for kids
Of course, you can't shop in Manhattan without some souvenirs. I'm looking for three kids shirts with non-cheesy NYC logos, and maybe some other neat trinkets.

A gift for my awesome boyfriend
What do guys want? Still working on that, but in the meantime, I want to get something really awesome for my boyfriend. Hopefully, next time he can come with me and pick out something himself!

Psychology books
I recently started a psychology course and I'm really into reading about case studies and "experiments" psychologists, sociologists, and anthropologists have done throughout recent history. At Strand books in downtown Manhattan, I'm looking for out-of-print or harder to find psychology books among their 18 miles of shelf-space.
