Kindle 3 Case and Cover Guide -- For Every Budget

There is a reason why Amazon's own leather Kindle 3 case with built-in light has been so popular! This Kindle cover is both stylish and functional. The hard cover protects your Kindle well, with a stretchy band closure with leather tab holding it shut. At the same time, the colorful leather (available in 7 popular color choices) and soft inside lining give this Kindle 3 case the look of an expensive business or fashion accessory.

The built-in light does add some weight but is very useful if you like to read in bed or during travel. You can also buy Amazon's leather Kindle 3 cover without the light, which gives you all of the style for a lower price and lighter weight, although see my note below.

The Amazon Kindle 3 case in leather is beautiful with or without the light. I bought one without, and was very happy with its appearance, weight and practicality.

Unfortunately these leather Kindle covers, or at least those which were being produced and sold in the later months of 2010, have in some cases caused the Kindle 3 wireless reading device to temporarily malfunction.

The reason for this is that the painted metal hinges can create a short-circuit in the device if the thin coating begins to wear off. You may notice that your Kindle 3 spontaneously reboots or that you have to perform a hard reboot each time you want to switch your Kindle on, rather than being able to wake it from sleep mode.

Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk are both now recognizing this as a known fault, so if you experience these problems as I did I would recommend you contact Customer Services for Amazon to discuss it further.

If you are looking for an inexpensive Kindle 3 cover you may find a silicone Kindle case or skin gives your device the protection it needs without putting a strain on your budget.

If you are looking for an alternative to Amazon's own Kindle 3 cover and are willing to pay a similar price, you have a wide range of options.

There are a large number of Kindle 3 cases are priced between $25 and $40 in many different styles and color combinations. These covers are generally made from synthetic materials such as microfiber leather which helps keep the cost low and in many cases looks as convincing as real leather.

M-Edge and Belkin are the two most popular Kindle 3 case manufacturers in this price range.

If you don't want to spend more than $30 on a Kindle 3 cover, Belkin should definitely be on your shortlist! They have a range of cases in many colors and styles, all at an affordable price.

The Belkin Grip Kindle Sleeve is currently $24.99 and has been a popular buy with Amazon.com customers whose ratings of this Kindle 3 case have been overwhelmingly positive.

It is made of neoprene and silicone. Your Kindle 3 is kept safe zipped up inside, and there is a special grip on the cover so you can carry it securely too.

The Belkin Grip Kindle Sleeve for the latest generation Kindle is also available in Black, Midnight Blue and Red.

M-Edge jackets are the perfect choice if you are looking for a Kindle 3 case in a similar style to Amazon's leather case and in comparable color options:
