6 Standout Kindle Features

So what makes the Kindle e-book reader so great?

I do love my Kindle. And I thought I would point out why. Here is a list of the top 6 reasons. Then I will get into what I do not like about the Kindle Book Reader.

#1 The kindle Has A Great Display

I find the Kindle display easier to read than paper

It's uses a technology called e-ink that is so far superior to PDAs, computer screens even the iPod that once you see it in person you understand why it's getting so much attention.

This display is a crisp, high-resolution electronic paper display. It looks like real paper. It reads like real paper, even in bright sunlight.

In fact for some people it's actually easier to read than paper because it's so crisp. Remember, because paper is porous, ink is always a little smudgy looking when you look at it up close. The Kindle also lets you control the text size on demand which makes it a perfect option for mature eyes.

#2 The Amazon Kindle Book Reader Offers Amazing Selection Of Books

The Kindle Store currently carries more than 190,000 books and counting...

You can get books for your Amazon Kindle book that run the breadth of all current popular titles (all the best-sellers plus some) plus a back list of books to rival a local library. With a capacity that can hold up to 200 books (the equivalent of four shopping carts full), the Amazon Kindle lets you carry your personal library with you.

Because the Amazon Kindle is a portable, 10 ounces (the weight of two apples) and has a laser-accurate search function.

Imagine being able to carry around 17 encyclopedias including on-demand, free, instant access to the Wikipedia.

Next time you travel take with you not one but several travel guides to refer to, along with language dictionaries, maps and a stack of books to read for pleasure...in the space of a pad of paper.

If you have kids, the Amazon Kindle is an education life-line with over 1,300 books from toddler to "tween" to teen/young adult and beyond. When out and about, the Amazon Kindle is the perfect alternative for video games and DVDs.

#3 The Kindle Is So Much More Than Just Books

It's magazines, newspapers and blogs, too...

In addition to books, Kindle owners can subscribe to newspapers, popular magazines and blogs such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Atlantic Monthly, TIME and Fortune. The Kindle Store also includes top international newspapers from France, Germany, and Ireland, including Le Monde, Frankfurter Allgemeine and The Irish Times.

Subscriptions are automatically delivered wirelessly to Kindle overnight so that the latest edition is waiting for when you wake up.

Monthly Kindle newspaper subscriptions are $5.99 to $14.99 per month, and Kindle magazines are $1.25 to $3.49 per month. All magazines and newspapers include a free two-week trial.

The Kindle Store also offer more than 300 blogs such as Slashdot, TechCrunch, BoingBoing, The Onion, The Huffington Post, and ESPN blogs. Blogs are updated and downloaded wirelessly throughout the day so Kindle customers can read blogs whenever and wherever they want. Wireless delivery of blogs costs as little as $0.99 each per month and also includes a free two-week trial.

#4 Instantly Read The Kindle E-Books You Buy

No matter where you are, you can download and read right now!

All the books you buy -- whether you get them through the Kindle's wireless or connection or you get them while using your PC. Even better, Amazon backs up all your purchases. If you ever lose or break your Kindle you can easily recover your books through Amazon. Here's the best part -- if buy a book and don't like it, you can get a 100% no-questions-asked refund just by emailing them with the title within 7 days of purchase.

#5 No Computer or Internet Conection Required

True wireless for free!

While you can always use your computer to buy Kindle titles from amazon.com the beauty is that you don't have to. You can also shop and use your Kindle through it's built-in cellular access through one of Sprint's high-speed data networks. This means you can wirelessly shop the Kindle Store, download your books, newspapers or other content you buy -- all without a PC, Wi-Fi hot spot, or syncing. And there's zero charge for the connectivity.

#6 Kindle Lets You Read PDFs, Text Files And Other Documents...Even Pictures

I love how versitile the Kindle is...

Amazon Kindle supports Microsoft Word, HTML, TXT, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, PRC and MOBI files. You can transfer them yourself for free using the supplied cable or a SD memory card.

You can also have these documents and pictures emailed wirelessly to your Kindle. The cost is 10 cents per file. What makes this option particularly delightful is that you can authorize other people to be able to send documents to your Kindle. (You are assigned an exclusive email address such as YourName@Kindle.com)

An executive can have an assistant email business-related PDF, while a child can send their latest homework essay to their parents.

Imporant note about PDF support: If it's a simple PDF it will convert well to be read on the Kindle. Complex PDFs loaded with graphics and out of the ordinary formatting may not work quite as well.
