Kindle-Chick-Lit-Author

Chick- Lit came on the radar of screen of many with the release of the book and movie of 'Bridget Jones's Diary'. Amazon recently listed 4735 products in the Chick-Lit category.

Chick-lit may have some of the following features:

written for women readers by women writers

often written with a humorous tone

the character bravely goes through an ordeal

the character is sometimes based on a woman with a glamorous career, typically in fashion

The Kindle writer,Lotus Landry, imagines how one might transport chick-lit concepts into a rainforest setting. This at first seems like an incongruous stretch, but isn't really that difficult as there are romantic interests, female competition ,female gossip, preoccupation with clothing and entertainment, career goals, and so on threaded into the book. All these elements existed to some degree even in a frontier fort of the 1800s. The main character, Matooskie, is a multicultural girl with a British corporate father and a native American mother. 'Skookum Man' is a coming of age tale set along the Columbia River of the Pacific Northwest. The chick-lit qualities overlap the Western genre to some degree.

As of February,2012, Landry's 'DOA in the HOA'(*) is available on Amazon Kindle. The two women of the story, Christine and Helga, try to establish their careers(in extremely uncommon occupations) while residing in 'the OC' of modern times. There is a mystery going on in the neighborhood and Helga plays Watson to Christine's Holmes.
