Why would anyone buy the new kindle DX?
Ranked #8,380 in Computers & Electronics, #175,612 overall
The Kindle DX (latest generation). Why would anybody want to buy this thing?
Why the Kindle DX and not another e-book reader?
That's the first thing I thought about when I heard about it. It seemed to be a useless gadget because I thought that if you want to read a e-book, why not use your computer or laptop? Why spend hundreds to buy this thing?
When a friend of mine bought the 6" display kindle (latest generation) I asked him to lend it to me for a few days so I can see what all the fuss is about. Now first I want to say, and I am ashamed of admitting this, but I'm not a keen book reader, I only read books that help me with my work, I didn't use to read for pleasure.

So like I said earlier, why not read a e-book from your computer? The answer was pretty obvious the second I started the thing, it has no LCD display, no backlight, it has an e-paper and e-ink display, it is so easy on the eyes it's unbelievable! In the 3 days I tested my friend's Kindle I got hooked so I decided to buy my own, I saved up a bit and got the big one, the 9.7" Kindle DX (latest generation). I was astounded once again, The size makes a HUGE difference, it is so much easier to read.
If you are thinking about buying a Kindle please, whatever you do, save up a bit and get the 9.7" one, you won't be sorry believe me!

Now let me talk about my Kindle DX and answer some questions you might have.
Is it worth the extra bucks? There is only one answer to this question: OF COURSE IT IS!Is it easy to carry around? It is extremely thin and weights as much as a very thin book so it's very easy to carry around although it doesn't come with a cover. I bought the leather cover along with my Kindle DX because I'm a clumsy gal and I don't want to damage it. The leather cover also adds elegance as well as protection, it hangs on with magnets and it's really sturdy, I absolutely recommend buying the cover along with your Kindle DX.
Is it easy to use? Well, it is once you get used to it, it would have been nice to have a touch screen but I think that would affect the paper like image quality so it's not such a major inconvenience.
Not having a LCD display, a backlight or a touch screen also affects the battery positively.
The battery lasts up to one week with wireless on and up to 3 weeks with wireless off, this is the official battery life, my Kindle drained it's battery after 6 days of intense use with wireless on so I guess the facts are true.
Is it nice to look at? That totally depends on your own taste, I really like the way it looks and feels, it's a very sturdy device and seems to be able to last for a very long time.
The e-ink screen has absolutely no glare so you can read outside in the sun with no problems and like I said it's very easy on the eyes, especially for people like me, who must ware glasses all the time, I can read for hours without getting tired, I can't do that on my laptop or computer. It has Free 3G wireless so there are no monthly fees, you can download your books anywhere and it holds up to 3500 books.
It has mp3 support and surprisingly loud built in stereo speakers and if you want, you can connect your headphones via the headphone jack.
There are tons and tons of features on the new Kindle DX, it will take me ages to describe them all but what I can assure you is that there is no better e-book reader on the market, me and my husband tested the top competitors before I bought my Kindle but it absolutely mops the floor with them.
