Now Amazon.com is offering its most popular product for $25 less - $114 instead of $139. How can they do this? The answer is the Kindle with Special Offers. This version of the popular Kindle comes with offers such as a $20 Amazon gift card for half price, six books from Audible for $6 and an MP3 album from the Amazon MP3 Store for $1. It also comes with sponsored screensavers.

Don't worry about ads interrupting your reading. That won't happen. The new features will appear on screensavers and the bottom of the Kindle's home screen. This reduced-price version of the Kindle has been made possible by its initial sponsors: Buick, Chase, Olay and Visa.

One of Amazon's goals for the Kindle with Special Offers is to present screensavers that people want to see. They've created an app called AdMash. It's optional. AdMash shows two screensavers side by side and you get to choose which one is more attractive to you. Those most preferred by customers get to be future screensavers.

As noted, AdMash is optional. It doesn't come with your new Kindle with Special Offers. You can download it to help Amazon select screensavers. Or not. The choice is yours.

With AdMash, you can also set your personal screensaver preferences so Amazon with have some hints of the types of screensavers you'd like to see.
