This opportunity is even easier than selling ebooks via Ebay used to be. Just like eBay you are provided with a constant, and growing, stream of traffic and you don't need to own website. Sales of your Ebooks are completely automated.

The new Kindle Amazon's Wireless Reading Device,
provides a way for you to start making money now, making use of all of the traffic generated by Amazon. In this lens I will show you how to set up your Amazon Kindle account (free to join); how to find ebooks to sell; what type of ebooks sell best and how to write descriptions that will attract eager buyers!

How To Open Up Your Amazon Kindle Publisher's Account

Opening up a Amazon Kindle publishers account is very simple and should only take you about fifteen minutes to do. I will keep this as simple as possible.

The first thing you will need to do, if you haven't already done so, is to go to Amazon and create an account. This is pretty simple, so I will not go through it in detail - just follow all of the instructions on the screen.

Once you have created your account you will need to login. When you have logged, in scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says, "Sell on Amazon" and click on this link. You will then see a link that says "View All Amazon Programs", click on it. Now you will see on the left-hand side of the next page a box that says, "Sell On Amazon", further down it says "Self Publish With Us", and below that "Kindle Books", click on this link.

This will bring you to the Digital Text platform. You will see a button in the top left-hand corner that says "Sign in". Click on it. At the top of the page you will see a link that says "My Account", click on it. Fill in all the information they ask for to complete the account.

Your Account is now set up. In the next section I we will look at how to upload you digital books to your account.

Buy A Kindle

Although it isn't necessary to own a kindle in order to sell your ebooks, owning one will help you to understand what it is all about. And of course, give you a way of downloading books anyhere, anytime without haing to wait for them to be delivered!

Uploading Digital Books to Kindle

Once you have signed into your new kindle account, you will need to upload the ebooks you want to sell. I will talk a little about finding ebooks to sell later on in this lens. For now I will concentrate on how to upload your products.

At the top of the page you will see a button that says "Add New Item", click on it. You will then come to a form. The first field you will see is for the ISBN number. You can ignore this field. Digital products do not need to have a ISBN number.

The next field is "Title", which is obviously where you put the tile of your ebook. If you are selling a PLR book, you can change the title to whatever you want, only make sure that it is likely to catch the attention of the customer.

The next field you need to fill is the description. This is important. Try to write a description that will sell your ebook. Suppose I have an Ebook about blogging. I might write something like this:

"If you are new to blogs, you're not alone. While blogs have been with us for over a decade, its increase in popularity is more of a recent phenomenon. The idea is to try and make you customer want to buy. I have cheated with the above description and adapted the sales page that came with the PLR product. Amazon gives you 4,000 characters to use in your description, so there is plenty of space.

The next field is publisher. You don't need to worry about filling this out. Anything that doesn't have a red star by it is optional.

Now you need to add Categories. Click on the button next to "Categories" that that says "Add/Edit". choose the categories that best fit your product. Pick all the categories and sub-categories that relate to yourit.

Fill in the field that says author. If it is a private label rights book you can put yourself down as either the author, or as the editor of the book.

Click the "Upload Image" button. Choose an image for your book. You should have a image of your book on your hard drive if you are using a PLR product; but if you don't have one, find a picture that is related to it. There are various royalty free image sites on the web you could search. It is always best to have a image.

Now you need to enter some keywords. This is to help search engines find your book. Form says that you can enter up to 7 keywords, but in my experience you can add up to 20.

****Hot Tip****You could use Squidoo to come up with some good keywords. Do a search on Squidoo for lenses related to your product. Go to the most popular ones, look at their tags and copy them!

You need to click "Save Entries" once you have completed the form. On the next page you will upload you book. Click "Browse" button where it says "Media Location". This will open up a window so that you can locate the book on your hard drive. The book will need to be a PDF or Word document. Then click "Upload". It will take a little time to upload and convert the file. Once it has uploaded, click on "Preview". This will open up a new window that will show you what your product looks like on the Kindle website. Once you are happy with how it looks, you will need to price it.

It is important to set your price at the right level. The best way to do this is to search for similar products on the Kindle website. Make sure you neither under price nor over price your books. You want to be competitive, but you also want to make a profit! Once you have entered your price in the field, click the "Save Entries" button.

Click on the link on the top left of the page that says "My Shelf", you should see your book listed. It won't be live straight away; it can take a few hours before goes live.

That is all there is to it. You are now a Kindle publisher and ready to make money! The more ebooks you upload the more money you are likely to make.

Finding Ebooks To Sell

Books In The Public Domain.

There are three ways that you can find ebooks to sell. Firstly you could write your own book or hirer a ghost writer on Elance to do it for you. this is the most time consuming and possibly expensive way of doing it. You could purchase some PLR books, or you could look for books in the public domain. I have written another lens about using PLR products, which you can view here. In this section we will look at how to find books that are in the public domain.

First we will look at finding public domain books on Google Books. Go to Books.Google.com/advanced_book_search. Enter the search term you require, such as "golf or "flyfishing" Select the langauge you require. Go down and enter 1800 and 1922 in the Publication Date field. This is because not all books found on Google books are in the public domain. All books published in the USA before 1922 are in the public domain (this may be different in other countries, so do your own research). Click "Search" and Google will find a list of books for you. Browse and choose an appropriate one.

Archive.Org is also a good source of Public Domain books. Use there advance search in the same way you used Google's, just go to www.archive.org/advancedsearch.php and search.

There are a number of services on the internet that will provide you with public domain books every month for a small fee. This could save you a lot of time, as they usually provide grafics and sales materials. One good source is NicheMarketingideas.com, signup for their free newsletter and get 17 Sample Public Domain Packages ($459 value) With Private & Master Rights free!

One problem with selling old public domain books, especially non fiction ones, is that the information may be out of date or the language too archaic. This could in fact be an opportunity for you to update the book and make it your very own publication! This maybe a time consuming option, but the rewards could be great. It is also a lot quicker than writing a new book from scratch. You then could either sell it as your own work under a new title, or you could could sell it under it's original tile but as being update by yourself. Change enough of it and you become the copyright holder of the book! Public domain books are a great source for the wouldbe Kindle publisher.

Get In Now!

The Kindle is still a fairly new product. It is becoming increasingly popular and with Christmas just around the corner, it is likely to increase in popularity. The great thing about the Kindle is you will be marketing to people who are actually looking for information rather than marketing to fellow internet marketers looking for products to sell. This means you can publish on any subject.

Now is the time to break into this market. My advice is to get in now while the competition is still relatively low. Hold back and you could regret it.

Hiya, I have just been checking this out. Yes, it can have the font made bigger, which is great. The sad thing is that it isn't available yet in the UK. What a shame, for such a useful little device!

    Best wishes,

    Hello,

I have never heard of this before but it sounds great! Can the script font be changed so that people with poor eyesight can see the type? I am going to investigate.

    Many thanks,

    Ruth
