Thomas Kinkade Presents Pinocchio!

"Pinocchio Wishes Upon A Star" is Thomas Kinkade's newest painting in his Disney Dreams Collection.

Kinkade's painting coincides with the 70th anniversary of the Disney animated movie "Pinocchio" which was recently re-released to the public.

The Disney character Pinocchio is depicted standing on a hillside overlooking a scene that shows much of the story behind the 1939 movie classic.

Pleasure Island, for example, appears on the right as Monstro, the notorious gigantic whale, is about to devour Geppetto's sailing vessel.

Kinkade has gained international fame for his Christian imagery, Disney characters, patriotic art, townscapes and seascapes.

Pinocchio Wishes Upon a Star is Kinkade's second Disney Dreams Collection piece joining his beautiful "Snow White Discovers The Cottage".

By the way, other Disney paintings by Thomas Kinkade are Disneyland 50th Anniversary (to the left), and A New Day at the Cinderella Castle.

Kinkade's Pinocchio painting "is one of my most meticulously detailed and time-consuming works, but it was a labor of love," Kinkade said in a news release. "Finding all the hidden elements is my challenge to collectors."

Some things to look for: a microscopic (but full) portrait of Walt Disney, a Mickey Mouse balloon, several mice, a rooster, a deer, five hearts, many Hidden Mickeys and, most difficult of all, a portrait of Kinkade himself.

More apparent: Geppetto's workshop, Honest John, Stromboli, an aglow Pleasure Island, Monstro the Whale, Blue Fairy and Jiminy Cricket.

Thomas Kinkade Discusses His Pinocchio Painting

My Disney Dreams Collection celebrates great moments from Walt Disney Films. I call these paintings "narrative panoramas" because each painting tells the entire story of the film in one image.

For my painting Pinocchio Wishes Upon A Star we see Pinocchio upon a hillside overlooking the setting of his adventures. We see Honest John and Geppetto's workshop where Pinocchio was formed. On the right we see Pleasure Island and Monstro the whale preparing to engulf Geppetto's sailing vessel. Butterflies and sparkles lend magical accents as the Blue Fairy and Jiminy Cricket look on.

My prayer is that my Disney Dreams Collection will make dreams come true for all who see these enchanted paintings.
