I became allergic to fish in my 30's (even though I had cod almost every Friday as a kid). I love your lens and will certainly share it with my fish-eating friends. Congrats on the purple star too.

Well, now my mum's insistence that they're haddock, not herring makes perfect sense! Great lens.

Mmmm- kippers! We have them on our breakfast menu, and have a secret competition to see who can leave the neatest plate of bones! Our Japanese guests win hands down every time! Blessed by a new Angel and added to my angel lens.

Oh blimey! I haven't had a kipper in years. I don't know why that is (they must have them in Tesco's)

Never knew that bloater is an alternative name for kipper. Thanks for the lens.

Ah, very interesting. I remember my dad going to the shore (Myrtle Beach, SC area) one year and waited for the boats to come in so he could buy some fresh fish. We bought fish straight off the boat quite often, but with that particular bunch of fish, he and his buddies cleaned them, then they salted them down in a barrel. That's about all of the memory I have for that, but the salted fish that were the result of that day were absolutely delicious! Have not had any sense, but have not forgotten them. ...Need to find me some kippers. Love fish. Ours are usually Southern fried. :)

Great lens... all I saw of kippers up to this point in my life was as they were heading to my mouth! Thanks for the depth on this lens!

Ha ha Carol! I'm certain he ate them separtely. Yep undyed are certainly the best and true to 'kippering'
  • Stazjia Aug 28, 2009 @ 6:13 am | delete
The trouble is that nowadays it's much harder to get genuine kippers rather than the ones that have artificial colour added, the same with smoked haddock. That man didn't eat the porridge and kippers together I hope. It makes me feel sick just to think of it.
