Do You Have A Favorite Star Fleet Captain?

Kirk over Picard any day of the week.

Captain James T. Kirk may only be a two, well, okay, one dimensional character, but he will always be the quintessential leader of space any day over Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

Give me Tarzan over Jane.

Give me John Wayne over Hawkeye Pierce.

Give me Kirk over Picard.

Oh yeah - James T. Kirk all the way!!

jdluntjr says:

James Kirk. Picard is cool, but too slow to act.... he thinks he can reason with everyone. Some cant be reasoned with.

ck says:

Captain Kirk could get the ladies though...

rms says:

No questions about it...Kirk!

smallfry says:

Kirk is the original and that is enough for me. I don't like change is character actors.

Nathan says:

Kirk's character creates more action. He is a shoot first and ask questions later (or sleep with the blue lady and ask questions later) type of guy. Picard always needs to talk things over before starting a shootout. In real life this is probably better, but it doesn't make for good TV.

Reggie_Marigold says:

Kirk Rocks!

No way, Jean Luc Picard is much better!

WritingforYourWealth says:

Kirk has his moments (and gets Spock as his #1), but Picard never makes me wince and roll my eyes at a hammy delivery or grabbing-women-by-the-shoulders moment, so he gets my vote.

Zani-doo says:

It's probably because this is the series I grew up with. I never watched much TOS.

mulberry says:

Nope, not for me. Picard is soo cool, cerebral, the ultimate leader and not a womanizer.

MeganCasey says:

I liked Picard better. And John Wayne over Hawkeye Pierce?! Sheesh. Now we have to duke it out. :)

GypsyPirate says:

I love Captain Kirk, but Jean Luc is just hot!

Klingon

Klingons (Klingon: tlhIngan; Pronunciation: //) are a warrior race in the fictional Star Trek universe. They are recurring villains in the 1960s television show Category: Star Trek: The Original Series - , and have appeared in all five spin-off series and seven feature films. Initially intended to be swarthy antagonists for the crew of the USS Enterprise, the Klingons ended up a close ally of humanity and the United Federation of Planets in later television series.

As originally developed by screenwriter Gene L. Coon, Klingons were darkly colored humanoids with little honor, intended as an allegory to the then-current Cold War tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union. With a greatly expanded budget for makeup and effects, the Klingons were completely redesigned in Category: Star Trek: The Motion Picture - (1979), gaining ridged foreheads that created a continuity error not explained by canon until 2005. In later films and the spin-off series Category: Star Trek: The Next Generation - , the militaristic traits of the Klingons were bolstered by an increased sense of honor and strict warrior code.

Among the elements created for the revised Klingons was a complete language, developed by Marc Okrand off gibberish suggested by actor James Doohan. Since its appearance, Klingon became the first fictional language to break into popular culture; the works of William Shakespeare and even the Bible have been translated into the guttural language. According to Guinness World Records, Klingon is the most popular fictional language by number of speakers.
