An Amazing Book About Uganda!
This fantastic book tells the story of Katie Davis, a young woman just out of high school who moves to Uganda to follow what God had for her. She ended up staying there for years (and still is there) and adopting several girls who needed a family. What an amazing true story!

About Kisses with Katie
This book is Katie Davis' first book, hopefully of many. She tells the story of how a young woman from upper class Tennessee winds up living in a developing country surrounded by sick and dirty people.Katie moved to Uganda, which is a country where my heart resides. First she went for a few weeks as a high school student. After graduation, she promised her parents she'd take only one year off to live in Uganda, then would come home to go to college. Instead, she stayed... forever. Now she is the mother of 13 daughters, taking care of the least of these, and doing whatever God asks her to do.
Warning! This book will challenge what you think about adoption and about the developing world!

Adoption
Katie not only tells the story of how she ended up in Uganda or how she started Amazima Ministries, but how she became the mother of 13. She examined the Scriptures and found that God commands us to care for orphans. For those who don't have what we have. (And let's face it, if you live in America or the UK or Australia, most of the world doesn't have what you have.)God's heart is for adoption. First, he adopted us into His family. Then he continually reminds us to care for widows and orphans and those without families. Katie does an awesome job of explaining all of this to us.
God did not make too many people and not enough resources to go around. Because we were living in His world, there had to be a solution.

- This sounds like such an inspiring book! One of my former professors, Dr. Krabbendaum, did quite a bit of missions work in Uganda. I think he still organizes missions trips there. I've been on a few foreign missions trips and would love to go again with my children when they get a bit older.

- What an uplifting story! This might be a good book club selection. I search on that phrase all the time - it might be a good tag.
