Kitchen Facucets Are Not Just Functional Anymore

Kitchen faucets sure have changed since I was a boy way back in 19??, the calendar doesn't go back that far. No, I don't quite remember the kitchen with the old hand pump, but I do remember when kitchen faucets looked about like the old yard hydrants, minus some of the rust they usually had on them, of course. Kitchen faucets are more than just a means of turning on the hot and cold water these days. They have become a significant part of a kitchen's décor. Some of them are so fetching to the eye that they are the first thing that draws your attention when you walk into a kitchen for the first time.

My wife doesn't seem to care whether the kitchen faucet has separate handles for the cold and hot water, but she does require that it have one of those hoses that you pull out of the sink. She says it makes it easier to do a lot of chores, and I found out she was right when I had to wash off my boots that time when I wasn't very careful where I stepped out in the cow lot.

I was meandering through the home improvement center one day (as I am often prone to do), and came upon the aisle where the kitchen faucets were displayed. I could hardly believe my eyes at how many different designs they had available. There were high rise ones, single lever ones, and some that swung back and forth. It almost made me dizzy when the salesman demonstrated that function. There was one that had levers that reminded me of the stick shift on that old 48 Dodge pickup I drove around when I was hardly more than a nubbin. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't come out with one soon that sings, "What-cha Gonna Do When The Well Runs Dry?" Kitchen faucets come in all different colors now too. One doesn't even have to wait until it rusts all up to change the kitchen décor from chrome to brown. What will they think of next?
There are a lot of quality brands of faucets, Delta, Peerless, Moen, Pfister, and Pegasus to name just a few. With so many quality brands to choose from, that's not necessarily the important thing to look for when purchasing a new faucet. There are important things to consider though. The first thing to do is to know how your sink is made and how many holes it has in it. That determines whether you can purchase a faucet with a hose that pulls down from the nozzle, for instance, or has to come up from the sde. Choose a fixture that will fit and go well with your kitchen sink, kind of blends in with the rest of the kitchen, and has other features that you need. For Instance, some even have built in soap dispensers. :
