Every kitchen needs a good knife. The tomato knife is not just for tomatoes--it is for all vegetables, really. I find that it is great for cutting lettuce. Why? For some reason when I use this essential tool, the cut lettuce does not brown as quickly. When cooking for just two, seldom do I use an entire head of lettuce. By using the tomato knife, I do not throw away as much brown or "rusted" lettuce heads as I used to. From this list of 5 tools, I would recommend the Faberware Earth pans. This is a particularly good choice for newlyweds. Why? I have seen too many young couples choose XXX brand of "professional cookware" and not even notice that it is NOT dishwasher safe. But, WHAT DO THEY DO? The put it in the dishwasher and then wonder why their expensive non-stick stuff sticks! Yes, I know I was yelling in type, but these couples just make me so very mad. A lot of money would have been saved if they had just requested the cheap stuff and then thrown it out when they grew up!
