The Kitchen Navigator's Guide™ Home Page

Ranked #42,151 in Food & Cooking, #1,178,616 overall

Welcome to your kitchen.

It's strange. The kitchen is one of the most familiar places in our lives. Our memories are closely linked to the smells, tastes and the people who have prepared the food in our lives. But, when it comes to starting your own kitchen, we often find ourselves at a loss.

In this series of lenses, I'll share a few things I have learned along the way. And, the things I don't know, I'll gather from experts across the internet. So, dig in and let's get cookin'.

Okay, being in the kitchen is one of my favorite things.

I'm not one of those gifted "Gourmet Chefs". I'm just a guy who likes to cook. Sometimes I burn things. I ruin expensive ingredients. I over salt-I under salt. But, regardless of what I screw up, it's never enough to keep me away.

Now don't get me wrong. All of our kids have their favorite things that I cook. An agreed favorite is brownies with a chocolate bourbon sauce and raspberry sorbet. I enjoy making lemon curd.

I spend hours inventing dishes-some flop. Some fly. Regardless of your desire, every experience in the kitchen makes you a better. Working at it makes you even better.

So when you fail, and you will fail, take it in stride. Remember what you did wrong, and don't do it again. Stop stalling, get in the kitchen and get to work.

Some of my best kitchen purchases have been from Ebay.

From a vintage Kitchen Aid® stand mixer, to a swanky espresso machine-I've had great luck.
