I love my new KitchenAid Blue Willow Stand Mixer

Ranked #10,883 in Food & Cooking, #195,446 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund

KitchenAid stand mixers are a must have kitchen accessory!

Recently we renovated our house and a new kitchen was top of the list. New tiles, new cupboards, new major appliances, and new gadgets galore.

I was shopping for pots and pans in a specialty shop and behind the counter was the pefect stand mixer for my glamorous new kitchen.

A KitchenAid Artisan mixer in Blue Willow.

Although I thought long and hard (for a moment or two!), I brought one home.

Wow!

Quilters don't cook!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it for now!

I decided that I had to go back to cooking as I used to when I had all my kids at home.

Why?

Because if I was going to spend all that money on this lov-er-lee new kitchen I must do it justice.

The mixer

Here she sits in all her glory!

In her own special spot on the counter

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

Sorry Ms Barrett Browning

There are so many things I love about my stand mixer from KitchenAid, I'll just tell you about a few.
  1. The colour
  2. It's so stylish
  3. Easy to operate
  4. Comes with three beaters
  5. Comes with a stainless steel bowl
  6. I can buy accessories for it (My birthday's in January!)
  7. It comes with a 'splash guard'. (It's really called a shield.)
  8. It's made of all metal — no plastic bits.
  9. Change beaters fast
  10. 10 speeds — each with 'soft start'

I had to buy a cookbook too

So I could know how to use the mixer

KitchenAid Baking Companion Cookbook

Amazon Price: $15.00 (as of 06/02/2012)Buy Now

A beautiful book with clear instructions.

Step by step pictures for some methods showing how to complete a task.

What did I make first with my new stand mixer?

A yummy cake? A pavlova?

No, just a 'Nanna's Impossible Pie'!

You know the one — all the ingredients in in one go — and Bob's your uncle.

Of course you know he's not my uncle, he's my husband, and he loves Nanna's Impossible.

The shield which I have christened the splash guard, stopped flour and stuff from going all over the kitchen and me. Love that!

The beater has rubber flanges which scrape the sides of the bowl as it mixes, doing a more complete job (for me).

I use my stand mixer for everything I can think of, and even some I hadn't.
I love my Blue Willow colour as it matches my kitchen.
Psst! It comes in other colours too.

What about adding these?

They make great sausage (oops! stocking) stuffers

My wedding gift mixer (a Sunbeam Mixmaster) turned 33 a week before Christmas, and my husband thought it was time for me to have a new one. He gifted me on Christmas with the KitchenAid 5 Qt. Artisan in white. I love this mixer and leave it out on my counter, something I never did with the Mixmaster. I recently purchased the citrus juicer attachment from Amazon and am very pleased with it as well. I have not read all 109 previous reviews on this site, but I have read a few that were disgruntled because their Artisans did not mix well.
