Series of Books: Kitty Norville - A werewolf
Carrie Vaughn has written a werewolf series with the main character being Kitty Norville who happens to be a werewolf and a radio talk show host. Her show "The Midnight Hour" is based in Denver and deals with the paranormal and supernatural issues. Listeners call in with concerns, questions, and sometimes answers to questions.
Kitty, at first, is able to keep it a secret that she is a werewolf but is eventually "outed" publicly. She appears to be a normal All-American girl to the world but has to answer to her pack and the needs of the wolf on occasion. She has vampire friends and enemies. Her submissive wolf persona and her own lack of self confidence makes her a victim in some cases. In each book of the series, Kitty's confidence and power grow.
These urban fantasy books are a fun light reading experience that are also popular with the romance readers. The series has a little something for everyone with romance, treachery, and plenty of supernatural occurrences.
If you are a fan of the Twilight series of books about vampires, you might like to try reading some of the Kitty Norville books.

Kitty and The Midnight Hour
Book One
In the first book Kitty Norville and The Midnight Hour, the reader is introduced to Kitty Norville a late night DJ who starts a talk show about Werewolves, Vampires, and other mythical creatures. Being a supernatural being is not what Kitty wants her listeners to strive for. She wants them to realize that it isn't what they might expect. While left in the woods after her human boyfriend has raped her, Kitty is bitten by a werewolf. The alpha male of the werewolf pack then comes along and abuses her further. She is the "pup" of the pack and must obey Carl's wishes and whims.
Kitty and The Midnight Hour gives the beginning of the story and shows Kitty in her most vulnerable state as a young werewolf. The abuses and confusion she faces are really quite a good analogy of what all humans sometime struggle with. It is just told from a fantasy point of view.
Carrie Vaughn does a very good job of depicting the life of a wolf pack and has an almost humorous way of describing Kitty trying to control the inner wolf in herself.

- In the past couple of years, I have become an avid reader of the supernatural/preternatural genre. I have not heard of, let alone read any of this author's work. I think, right now, the big hitters like Laurell K. Hamilton, Christine Feehan, and Sherilyn Kenyon are taking up most of the attention. I will definitely look out for the series though. I have given you 5 stars because you have obviously read the books and enjoyed them enough to do a lens about them.
