The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is one of the largest single fundraising events in the UK. Last year, over £7.5 million was raised from 44,000 coffee mornings, to help people affected by cancer. This year, their target is £8.5 million and together with Kleeneze Head Office, we want to raise a Kleeneze Anniversary £85,000.

Think carefully about the event before you start and put an action plan together. Consider where it is to be held (workplace, school, local halls, community centres, sports centres), how long you wish it to run for and who can help you on the day

Think about if your story has a PR angle - have you or someone close to you been touched by cancer or used MacMillan?
Invite local councillors / celebrities to any events that are hosted
Take coffee and cakes out when you catalogue and see if you can encourage customers to buy for a good cause
Visit local building sites and take coffee and cake and charge them for the privilege!

Each of the people in your Kleeneze team will be earning over £220 per month. As your group turnover has now increased to £4800 (6 x £800) then you move up the volume profit table to the 12% level. Your earnings would now be £504 every 4 weeks, or £126 per week. Not bad for very part-time hours!

How many people do you know who would be interested in earning an extra £500 per month (£6000 per annum) working less than 12 hours per week?

As you build your customer base your retailing returns will be much higher and some people in Kleeneze earn over £2000 per month just from retailing. The example below shows how your earnings would increase if you and each of your 5 people retailed £1600 in a 4-week period and just 2 of those people showed 5 people how to do the same.

When a distributor has a group turnover of more than £8225 in the 4-week period, they become a Gold Distributor. You will now be entitled to around 4.5% royalty bonus on each of your two Gold Distributors and of course, volume profit from the rest of your team who have not yet achieved Gold Distributor status. The above example would give you an income of approximately £1700 every 4 weeks, or £425 per week.

Remember, you can introduce more than 5 people to the business and as people in your team start to duplicate your efforts, then your turnover and your income will increase.

When I found out about Kleeneze, I was at college part-time, in a part-time job and with a daughter to look after. Even an extra £50 a week would have been a life-saver. So you can imagine how I felt when after my first week I was came out with £200.

Two weeks later, I went to my first opportunity meeting. It was then that I really got my head around it all and realised the potential of the business if I started to sponsor. I spoke to my mum about it and she was the first one to join. By July 2007, I had ten members of my family in the business - even my Nan and Granddad were doing it!

Not all of them were keen in the beginning, but they could see how well I was
doing. I was drip feeding information to them all the time - leaving my cheques around! I didn't have to really convince them - they knew what I had come from and could see that I would have never been able to afford things like a car otherwise. I still drip-feed information, though, to family members that haven't joined yet. When I was in Cannes and Marrakech, they all got postcards!

An Interview with Kleeneze's Michael Khatkar

Whether you've been in the business two minutes or two decades, it's more than likely that you have heard the name Michael Khatkar. The Head of Network Development has been working with Kleeneze Distributors for over eight years and as a result is one of the most well-known faces (not to mention his vocal abilities!) of the business.

So, as we embark on what is going to be our best year ever, EWB decided to catch up with the man himself to find out all the news.

Can you tell us what your job entails?
I am basically the link between the Kleeneze Head Office and the Network. I'm there to support teams wherever they need it and to really maintain a high profile, so both the voices of the Network are fed back to Head Office and that the corporate news is relayed to Distributors in much the same way. That is why you'll find me speaking at a lot of the Network meetings.
As a consequence, the feedback that I get from Distributors allows me to see how and where we can develop incentives.
I'm then responsible for writing suitable critera for all incentives, as well as tracking who has qualified for the Conferences and the cars. When it comes to Conferences, both here and abroad, I chose and direct all the speakers, which is where my close link to the Network comes in handy!

We've heard a rumour that 2008 is going to be gr8. Why?
This is definitely a fantastic time to be in the business. We now have more incentives than ever and they are easier to achieve than ever. For example, to qualify for the Caribbean Cruise in 2009, all you need do is reach the Bronze Executive level and hold it for two more periods. And there's the Corsa incentive on top of that.

You're one of the only ones who has been on the Club Med 2. What's so gr8 about it?
I've witnessed eight launches of the Spring Destinations and I can wholeheartedly say that I've never seen one that has stirred so much excitement and emotion in the Network. Everyone's buzzing and everyone's talking about it. I called it the 'Ultimate Destination' at a meeting once and the nickname has stuck, but I really believe it is. Just the whole exclusivity of it makes it one of the best we've ever done.

You've been through the whole transitional period with Kleeneze. What has that been like?
No one ever said that it was going to be easy and naturally there were going to be some issues with a move of such a massive scale - but on the whole it went extremely well and the support from the Network during that time was just incredible. However, now that the whole transitional process is over and the foundations have been laid, we can start focusing on the year ahead.

What will you be doing more of in 2008?
Communication and support. This is the time for growth and we all need to push forward and do whatever it takes to make this business the best that it can be. We will be creating incentives that are available for everybody and then helping them to achieve them.

What should we (Distributors) be doing in 2008?
Deciding on what your personal goals are and keeping on track to achieve them. It's also important, though, to sharpen your ability to get people to understand why this business is so great. Encourage people to reach their goals and you will reach yours without trying.
For new people, it's important to look around the Network at the thousands of success stories that are produced every year. Success leaves clues - it's a bit of a cliché, but it's really true - you only need look around to see it.

What's going on in the economy affects the number of people looking for other sources of income...

In the early 90's after the recession and housing market crash, a lot of people needed to generate extra income just to keep their houses. Times like these are good for network marketing as they provide the stimulus for people to get out of their comfort zone and do things they wouldn't normally do - like consider a part-time career in network marketing for example. That's one of the reasons why the the 90's was a great time for recruitment in our industry.

From the late 90's up until recently, people have been feeling wealthier. House prices have boomed so people have felt wealthier due to the build up of equity in their homes. Investments also performed quite strongly meaning people had less need for additional sources of income. On top of this, jobs were relatively secure with low unemployment. This is one of the reasons why, for the last 5 or 6 years recruitment has not been strong within the industry.

Another thing happened in the mid 90's is lenders moved from away from excess capital lending, towards asset (or security) backed lending. This flooded the market with easily accessible credit meaning that rather than people having to work more to save money, they could just borrow the money on a credit card or a loan (either secured or unsecured). Many people released equity built up in their property.

Things are now changing massively...

The economy is now entering a recession. House prices are falling (approx. 3% last month), stock market based investments are not yielding results and credit is becoming increasing difficult to obtain e.g. mortgages and loans i.e. the credit crunch. Here's some statistics that you might want to make a note of:

Over 5 million people will be coming off fixed rate mortgages this year and going onto higher interest rates. This will cause a big drop in disposable income and cause many to lose their homes
Credit card debt in the UK is currently at £56 billion. Yes, BILLION Last year, consumer debt in the UK topped 1 TRILLION for the first time
This debt has to be paid back one way or another. Probably from a mixture of higher interest rates and taxes. Again, this erodes people's disposable income, which means more people looking for other sources of income.

The Awful Truth Economy

According to independent website, Moneyfacts, more than 300 mortgage deals vanished from the market in the space of just one
day last week.

Almost 3,000 mortgage deals were withdrawn in March (the figure stood at more than 15,000 before the credit crunch hit)

Leading lender, Nationwide has reported approvals for new mortgages are down 40% on a year ago

Research suggests the average rate on a two-year-fixed rate mortgage has risen from 6.15% to 6.29% over the last two weeks

Home repossessions could soar to more that 60,000 this year as families struggle to cope with rising mortgage payments

The average house price is now around nine times average earnings, up from around four-and-a-half times 10 years ago

Analysis of government data has suggested that families at risk of repossession are now spending over 75% of their disposable income on mortgage payments (all the families affected had disposable incomes of £1,000 or less and mortgage payments up to £750.)

Kleeneze Escapes the Crunch 

Doom, gloom and more doom. That's pretty
much what every financial section in every
paper and on every website is screaming at
the moment. Thanks to the credit crunch,
headlines now cry Rise in UK firms forced to
close (BBC News, 7 April 2008), Credit crunch
'could last years' (The Guardian, 11 March
2008) and Loan sharks circle in the credit
crunch (The Times, 30 March, 2008).

And the news gets worse day by day, with
banks hoarding their cash and becoming
much choosier about who they lend to.
These past few weeks have possibly been
some of the worst for home-buyers and
home owners alike, as the news filtered
through that First Direct had announced it
was closing its doors to new customers. It
was swiftly followed by reports that the last
100% mortgage on offer has been scrapped,
as Abbey took its loan off the market after
similar decisions by its rivals.

And it's not just those looking to buy who
may have their plans scuppered. Millions of
borrowers in the UK are looking at a
marketplace that has closed for business as
opposed to the norm of being swamped with
offers of credit. This has left a huge amount
of people scrabbling around to find an
affordable deal and struggling to pay their
monthly bill.

To make matters even worse, the International
Monetary Fund has issued research to suggest
that residential property in the UK is
overvalued by as much as 30% meaning the
collapse of house prices are imminent.
Doesn't sound good, does it? However, if

ITS A FAMILY AFFAIR 

"My introduction to kleeneze was all a bit
bizarre really. I was originally a prison officer andintroduced my brother, Mike, into the prison
service. Then, later, he returned the favour by
introducing me to kleeneze (Mike and his wife
Amanda are now Silver Premier Executives). I
somehow think I had the better deal!
Mike was in kleeneze for a month before I
joined. I already had experience with Network
Marketing and knew cataloguing worked - just
not to what extent. When Mike introduced me
to the business, I went into it for the
conventional reasons. I needed £50 extra to keep
repairs up on my old camper van! I thought,
that will be enough and didn't think of taking it
any further.

I was advised from day one to go to the
meetings, so obediently off I went. At that first
meeting there were people from all walks of life,
and many of them were going up to the front
for recognition. I didn't quite understand what
was happening at that point, but I did
understand that they were earning in excess of
£1,000 a month. It was then that I decided it
was time to plunge myself into this business.
I just decided I would never have a catalogue in
the house - they would always be with the
customers. Rosie and I joined in the October and
by March, we had earned enough to go on a
family holiday to EuroDisney. All those years we
couldn't take the kids, because we couldn't
afford it - we both cried on the way there,
because they were so excited.
That was really the way I got Rosie on board -
she could see the benefits of the business then.
At that moment, we both fell out of love with
our jobs and in love with kleeneze. We decided
to set a target of becoming Bronze Executive
before we gave up work, but by doing so we
inadvertently qualified to Malaysia!

Money's never been an issue for me - it's the
lifestyle and what I call the fringe benefits that
are important. Because of kleeneze, I was able
to take my daughter to school and then pick her
up in the afternoon. If there were any school
trips, she could always volunteer me to go on
them. If one of the kids was ever ill and had to
be picked up from school, we could just drop
everything and go.

I've often said if I ever won the lottery, I would
not quit kleeneze. I would use some of the
money to help my team achieve their goals and
dreams. We have an incredible life. I've been
able to help people with financial difficulties,
who are worried about losing their homes etc.
We're not special people, but we have an
awesome gift."

"What a fabulous time we all had! In Phuket we swam
with baby elephants, played on the beach and ate lots of
wonderful food.

Then, just as we all thought that could not be beaten,
