Knife Rests

Ranked #73,799 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #2,053,488 overall

Small, but an elegant addition to your table.

If you want to dress up your table for the holidays or a special dinner, consider adding knife rests to it. Even if you are serving all the courses of the meal at once, knife rests, like place cards and napkin rings, can give the whole affair a touch of elegance.

These little collectible pieces of glass, china or metal hark back to a time of difficult laundry and a desire to keep the food on the plates and eating utensils off of the table top or table cloth. Especially when only one knife and fork were provided for meals with several courses, a place to put them was needed. In addition, carving sets included a knife rest for placing the carving knife, at least, on the table where it was out of the way for serving the roast beast. This knife rest might also have a place for the carving fork as well.
