- I would not recomend a driving position at Knight Transportation to a driver who has any commitments at home such as family or bills to pay. This company hires people into management positions, with no management skills whatsoever. You can make just enough money to cover your traveling expenses, and nothing left to pay bills with. They tell you that 90% of the loads are drop & Hook. They want you to drop, but there is nothing to hook. When you only run 300 mile trips, it is not practical to waste half of a day looking for an empty trailer to load. They started me out at .31 cents per mile and I could average 1,624 miles per week. The only person that this job would be appropriate for, would be a homeless person with no place to go. The job was not what I expected and I decided to move on to something else.

- Knight Transportation will lie to you, steal from you and force you into bankruptcy. The only people that would be right for this job, would be the homeless who have no other place to go.

- Truck driving O.T.R. is a make or break occupation. Only about one out of five or 20% actually are the winners. However, there are many who despite not ever being able to cut the mustard continue to remain in the occupation; most often it is to stay away from home-life, such as your husband is obviously doing; I would too;-) He may not be getting the miles because they are trying to get rid of both him and you. Some spouses actually contact the company and bitch prolifically about benefits, pay, etc...
The world is full of winners and losers; winners are can do people, who do not waste time criticizing condemning or complaining. It is obvious you nor your husband are cut from that cloth;-) It is best we at knight weed the losers out!

- In response to your response to Dee's complaint - I really don't see how you think needing 2500 miles or more is an unreasonable request! How do you expect people to live on less! Your response to her was completely rediculous! If you're in the trucking business then you know 9 times out of 10 the Co. is getting rich while bankrupting it's drivers. Maybe if you treated your drivers and their families with more respect than you did this woman, then you might get quality drivers who want to work for you and give you their best!!

- The WORST COMPANY I have worked for thus far. Nothing good to say, really. I guess I'll start with the shit equipment, from the basic, generic, worthless piles of junk we can't keep out of the shops with downtime you'll never see.
I was told in orientation at the beginning of 2011, the year of 2010 Knight had a profit of nearly a billion dollars and this is why. For every run or load and deadhead they rip us off 20-100 miles, this is every trip, every load. Getting paid for downtime, layover, even breakdown is like the Dispatchers are paying from their own pockets. And reimbursement for anything like scales, hotels, etc., if you don't stay on top of what they owe, they hope you forget so they don't pay. It took me 8 months to get reimbursed for a $60 hotel.
Cheap, Kevin Knight and his board got and have APU's for every truck they own for the tax break the government gave companies. They are sitting in the Phoenix yard and just shows how they treat us drivers when they don't want us idling and experience us to get proper rest in 100+ degree temp.
If you want to go home, tell them you need to be home a week before you need to. Your dispatcher will head you away from home when you tell them you need to go home. And by the time your done fighting with them you might actually get home when you really needed to.
SO ON AND SO FORTH.
THE OTHER COMMENTS FROM DRIVERS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE SPOT ON. ALMOST EVERY KNIGHT DRIVER I TALK TO HAS THEIR OWN HORROR STORIES FROM THIS COMPANY AND OTHERS. WHEN COMPANIES GET THIS LARGE, IT'S NOT ABOUT THE DRIVERS. WE ARE JUST WORK HORSES THAT ARE SLAVES AND OVER TIME FORGOT ABOUT.

- I have been with Knight for 5 months now and have watched them go downhill the whole time. They dispatch you late for loads and then tell you you cannot get detention pay because you were late for the appointment. Or they dispatch you too early and then say you cannot get detention because you were there before your appointment. Their insurance is a joke. Prescription plan requires you to pay half the cost of meds. I was told this week that forced dispatch is only if they ask you to do something illegal. Speaking of illegal, I was told to drive to the truckstop to eat and then to use line 5 on the qualcomm to get to the customer when I was out of hours. Only once in 5 months have they gotten me home when I asked. I have missed 4 doctor appointments because of them. Their mileage pay is about one third of what you actually drive. I am currently seeking alternate employment. Do not go to knight if you have somewhere decent to work.
