I only know the most basic crochet, but I think I could manage to follow these simple instructions for making a basic Granny Square from KnitSimple Magazine.

Coupled with the information found on Coolest Knitting Patterns using just squares and rectangles the humble Granny Square could become a building block for some interesting things.

Loom Knitters might need to convert needle knitting patterns for use on a Knitting Loom.  Here are some handy instruction from my blog on how to convert patterns for the loom.  It's not very hard at all.

Youtube Video "Folding the Norwegian House Slippers"

One more way of making slippers out of garter squares

These felted slippers are from Craft Magazine - Volume 5. This video is to assist in the folding method. Author Liecel Tverli Scully states that she uses the following for gauge: 22 stitches equals 10cm on a size 9 (US) needle. The teaser page says stitch until your square counts 20 garter ridges for a woman's size 9 slipper, 19 stitches for size 8 and 16 stitches for size 5. I say go buy the magazine cause its a very cool magazine.

Folding the Norwegian House Slippers

This is a follow-up to an article that appeared in Craft magazine. These slippers can be a bit confusing to fold properly. I hope this video helps!

Hi, I appreciate your visit to hats for homeless. I tried knitting, but 2 needles was one more than I could hangle. Great job on your lens.
