The Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival
A Fibery Fun Extravaganza
For knitters, crocheters and other fiber loving enthusiasts, you will not want to miss the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival that will take place on May 5 & 6 at the Howard County Fairgrounds in Friendship, Maryland. There is no end to the events and activities that get packed into this annual weekend country extravaganza. There is food, sheep shows and trials, workshops and classes teaching spinning, knitting, weaving, and crochet. You'll see sheep shearing demonstrations, sheep dog demos, a sheep-to-shawl competition, auctions.
I love to go and shop for artisan yarns from small producers because it can't be found anywhere else. There are barns filled to overflowing with vendors selling fleece, prepared roving, yarns, spinning wheels, books, weaving looms and so much more.
Bring the whole family, and wear comfortable walking shoes, but they ask that you please leave your dog at home.

Our groups love to knit for charity. Some of the charities that we have been supporting recently are, the Caps to the Capitol project, Scarves for Food & Friends, and the Red Scarf Project for the Orphan Foundation.
We have a web site, and a blog where we list what's happening on the local knitting scene.
So, if you are new to the area and want to find some fiber-loving friends to hang out with, check the web site for a group near you:
