Knoebels Grove Amusement Park - A Great Day for Everyone!

If you are looking for a great family amusement park, check out Knoebels Grove. Located in Elysburg, PA, Knoebels Amusement Park is ideal for families or anyone looking for a great, affordable day. Enjoy the theme park rides, top rated roller coasters, a spring-fed swimming pool with water rides, and a Haunted House that has been featured on the Discovery Channel.

Plenty of free parking, great food, and beautiful mountain scenery. Pay one fee to ride all day, or buy your tickets for each ride.

Knoebels - A Great Family Park

Not for adults only!

Knoebels Amusement Park is a fantastic place to take little ones. The Park has a special "Kiddie Land" with a large variety of rides and activities that are age appropriate for young ones. And the nice part is since you do not have to pay a fee just to walk into the park, you can take your time and just let the kids enjoy the area.

A playland is located near the ice cream stand (how convenient!). When everyone needs a timeout, you can just let the kids climb and run around in that area.

Caution: There are two exit points in the play area. Don't think that you can stand by the entrance to make sure your child does not wander away.

Other park activities suitable for young children include the swimming pool, the train ride that covers 1.5 miles through a wooded area, and of course the cotton candy!

You can find a variety of food pavillions and stands. Selections range from sausage sandwiches to buffalo burgers. The Alamo Restaurant offers a place to sit down indoors and relax.

The food offered at Knoebels is tasty and affordable.

I have been going to Knoebels since I was a child. And I still love going there! Each time is like a new experience.

Wooden Roller Coasters

Two of the best wooden coasters!

Knoebels has two wooden coasters; the "Phoenix" and the "Twister".

The Phoenix Roller Coaster was originally built in 1947 and was located in Playland Park, San Antonio. It was known as "The Rocket".

Dick Knoebel purchased and relocated the classic wooden coaster in 1984. Coaster enthusiasts can continue to enjoy one of the best wooden roller coasters in the country.

The Twister is based on the "Mister Twister" ride that was located in Denver. Knoebels tried to relocate the original ride, but did not have the space in the park for it. So, instead, Knoebels purchased the blueprints and rebuilt the roller coaster, modifying the layout to fit the space that was available. The mathematical model of the coaster was preserved.

Photo is the Twister Coaster photographed from the skyride.

Knoebels Haunted House Attraction

Great for Halloween!

The Haunted Mansion was built after the 1972 Hurricane Agnes flood. It opened in 1973 and still continues to receive awards. The design is the typical dark car ride with different displays and effects. Lots of fun. I would not recommend taking little ones in. The Mansion is pitch black inside. I found out through experience that the little ones are very frightened of the darkness.

My husband has visited Knoebels many times and it's legendary in Eastern Pennsylvania as a homey, affordable and fun place to take the family. I'm hoping to take my grandkids there one day. Lensrolled to my Paragon Park and PA lenses ... thumbs up!

What fun this place sounds like. I wrote a lens on our local kids amusement park (the last of its kind in Chicago) that was torn down this year to make way for a Costco. Ours (Kiddieland) was also there since the Great Depression, with several generations of visitors. You can see my tribute page to Kiddieland at http://www.squidoo.com/kiddieland .

I lensrolled this to my Kiddieland page and have favorited it - Chicago isn't THAT far away from Pennsylvania: my kids would a weekend trip like this!
