5 Steps to Starting Your Own Memberhip Site
Many involve the integration of multiple pieces of software, installing them on your own server and maintaining them over time. You do NOT want to go there!
So here are 5 basic steps you can take to get your own site going literally overnight.
1. Build a quick overnight membership site
2. Test it to see if you can get sales (use Google adwords, email people on your list, signature links in forums, etc)
3. If you get a few sales, expand on the site and increasing marketing. Use a fully hosted service like Extreme Member that provides everything you need such as forums, email and affiliate marketing, and protected content, rather than install complex software.
4. If you can't get a few sales, try different headlines, prices, or value propositions.
5. If you still can't get sales rethink your idea, try a different, small or larger niche.

Why Doing What Everyone Else is Doing is Wrong
Affiliate marketing works because people are generally motivated to sell something if they will get 'a cut' of the sale. To make a lot of money as an affiliate you have to essentially draw a huge amount of traffic to your site or have tons of products for sale, and give them a reason to click on your suggested products. A very small percentage will click and even less will buy. But it can work if you have a huge audience. If you have a niche skill or knowledge this probably isn't the way to go.
Blogging
Tons of people are blogging. Some do it for fun, others to make money. If you're in the latter group you can make money in a variety of ways. You can use the blog to promote your 'guru' status and get more consulting gigs. This is good. You can put ads on your site and hope people click on them. Think about that for a second. You write really good, useful content but hope people click on your ads and go away so you can make a few cents per click!
E-books and other products
If you're like me, you may have tired of putting affiliate links and ads all over your site. They weren't making you much money and they clutter up your site. You also feel that ads on the internet, tv, radio, online videos, etc are pretty annoying and feel bad using them on your site. So you created an e-book or published your own book, CD, or DVD. That's great - I know it must have been a lot of work. You may be selling only a few or a half decent amount of books. Let me ask you some questions: How many of your customers have bought more than one book? Do you regularly communicate with your customers to sell other books? What if you could sell to them once but have them buy month after month?

What if you could create your content once, and sell it over and over again? What if you could put out a basic offering, then based on feedback from your customers you add new content, tweak old content and make it better every day? Well that's where Extreme Member allows you to get a membership site up and running quickly.
