Princess of Hill Station
Kodaikanal also known as Kodai in Tamil Nadu is a charming hill resort. It is referred as the "Princess of Hill stations" and has a long history as a retreat and admired tourist destination. It is located 7,200 feet above sea level amongst the picturesque Western Ghats of South India. Kodaikanal mesmerizes any visitor with her wooded slopes, mighty rocks, enhancing waterfalls and a beautiful lake. Unique attraction in this hill resort is Kurinji Flower. This flower is in full bloom around December once in 12 years, and it covers the whole valley in a beautiful sea of blue. It was last in full bloom in 2006; its next bloom is predictable in 2018. Kodaikanal is a perfect summer resort for the travel enthusiast of the southern plains.

Kodaikanal
Kodaikanal means gift of the forest in Tamil language. The thick forest with numerous varieties of trees, the huge rocks in the wilderness and the captivating waterfalls makes it a real reward for the tourists visiting this place. Kodaikanal is the most well known honeymoon destination in South India because of its scenic beauty and it has the power to leave any nature lover mesmerized by its beauty. With its fascinating air, wonderful scenery and calmness that you can hardly find in any other hill resorts, Kodaikanal is an perfect summer resort for the travel enthusiast of the southern plains. Kodaikanal is famous for eucalyptus oil, homemade chocolates, plums and pears. Woolen clothing is available at cheaper rates in the Tibetan refugee bazaar. Kodaikanal weather is enjoyable throughout the year, but the most excellent time to visit Kodaikanal is from April to June and from September to October.
Kurinji Flowers
The Kurinji (Strobilanthes Kunthiana) plant grows plentifully in Shola grasslands and mountain slopes of the grand Western Ghats and Nilgiris mountains in South India. Kurinji blooms in a clustered manner on distinctive inflorescence stocks once in every 12 years. The flowering season vary between August and November with a peak period of late September and October although some ranges exhibit little deviation in their phrenology. The kurinji flower has purplish blue in color when aged. It looks light blue in the previous stage of blooming.
