The EQUO LED desk lamp.

The clean, sculpted body of the Equo is counterbalanced to be adjustable with a feather light touch, and the arched cross section of the arm makes it so thin and light, that it seems to float on top of the stem. Slide your finger along the stem's touch sensitive strip to dim or turn the lamp on and off. A constant angle joint maintains the head's tilt as the arm swings up or down.

The Equo's lamp arm is made out of aluminum to minimize body weight and thermal resistance. The green conscious design uses a curved body shape to ensure rigidity of the long body length while minimizing the material used, and the core of the weighted base is made out of post-industrial recycled material, accounting for more than 60% of the product's total weight. The weighted base and vertical arm of the Equo can both be detached, minimizing packaging and waste. Assembly is simple, plug the parts together and go. LEDs on the Equo last over 40,000 hours and consume only 7 watts, and the Equo can be equipped with an optional occupancy sensor that automatically turns off the light when the user is away for additional energy savings. The Equo utilizes optics designed to maximize light transmission while projecting a smooth and even light, and will be available in cool white (~4,500K) and warmwhite (~3,500K) light models.

Koncept's line up.

A little bit about Koncept Lighting

Apparently, we're not the only one's that like them...

With years of experience in manufacturing and industrial design, the founders established Koncept in Fall 2002 to design and develop innovative products for home and business. Since then, the company has developed a line of elegant LED desk lamps that are gaining national attention.

Koncept's flagship product, the Z-Bar LED desk lamp, has been featured in number of media including U.S. News & World Report, Samsung's DigitAll Magazine etc. In 2006, it won "Best of Category" in International Design Magazine's 2006 Annual Design Review in the category of Furniture and was selected into Die Neue Sammlung's permanent collection. The Annual Design Review is America's largest design competition, and Die Neue Sammlung is Europe's largest museum of modern everyday objects of exemplary design, comparable only to the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

In 2007, Time Magazine named the Z-Bar LED desk lamp one of "The Best Inventions Of The Year" and was titled "a green light", basing on the fact that the Z-Bar generates little heat and has a long lifespan compared to traditional lamps. Since then the company has introduced the Z-Bar High Power, which uses higher wattage LEDs to achieve even more energy saving, longer lifespan, and more light output.

Our goal is to continue to design innovative products that set high standards in the industry and more importantly, make your life safer, simpler and greener.

LEDs are also used in more specific business such as Aquariums, LEDs help to provide specific light colours and the correct amount of heat for the fauna present in the tanks. Another more specific venue is in stage lighting where the absence of radiation and heat is perfect for reducing costs and discomfort. LEDs are used in almost every type of venture in some form or another.

While it may seem expensive, you are paying for the technology, design and quality of this lamp. It uses new generation high power white LED bulbs as opposed to older LED's which put out fewer lumens.

This lamp is very simple but I like it's sleek and ergonomic design

Slick. Look like they would be great at taking the strain off my eyes when working on my computer - A geek with style, maybe!

Thank you, they are pretty cool. We find a lot of "Graphic Designer" & "Stuck in front of the computer all day" type of people love these lamps because it lets them work on their detailed drawings, or stare at their screen without putting undue strain on their eyes. That's one of the reasons the Museum Of Anthropology likes them so much.
