Koper is a town, which was developed on the rocky island. On every step are seen the remains of the Venetian period. Koper has two official languages, Slovenian and Italian language. The city has Marina Koper, interesting old town centre, city baths, shopping centre and many other.

Old Town CentreOld Town Centre has many interesting and beautiful buildings as are Praetorian Palace, Cathedral and Town Tower, Rotunda of Mary's Assumption, Da Ponte Fountain, Muda Gate, Tarsia Palace and many other. The city has rich historical past, from Venetians to French Empire and Habsburg monarchy. From the Town Tower is a wonderful view to the town, so it is worth visiting.

Cankar StreetCankar Street is part of the old town centre in Koper. In Cankar Street you can see De Rin House, Corner Palace, Rotunda of Mary's Assumption, De Belli Palace, Gymnasium (grammar school) and other. De Rin House is a typical Venetian house from the 15th century. The rotunda is the oldest town's baptistery. De Belli Palace is from the second half of the 16th century.

Carpaccio SquareCarpaccio Square got the name by V. Carpaccia, famous Italian painter. At the square you can see his house from the 14th century. In the square you can also see the Taverna, column of Saint Justine and Almerigotti Palace. Taverna is the former salt storehouse. The column was built in the memory of the battle at Lepan in the year 1571.

Cevljar StreetCevljar Street is a typical medieval narrow street. You can see many palaces as are Orlandini Palace, Barbabiance Palace, Tarsia Palace, Carli Palace, Almerigogna Palace and other. The Barbabiance Palace has a beautiful baroque facade. In Carli Palace was born the famous Koper illuminist and encyclopaedist Gian Rinaldo Carli.

Presern SquarePresern Square is situated in the old town of the city. In this part you can see the Da Ponte Fountain, the Church of St. Basso, Muda Gate, the Cadamuro Palace and many other. The fountain was first mentioned in the year 1423. Presern Square was in old times named Da Ponte Square. The Muda Gate is the only intact preserved representation of Renaissance gate in Slovenia.

Tito SquareTito Square is one of the most beautiful squares and the centre of old town. Here you can see the wonderful Praetorian Palace, Palma Palace, Foresteria, Armeria - weapon warehouse, Loza, the Cathedral of Mary's Assumption, Town Tower, the Del Bello Palace, the Rotunda of St. John The Baptist and many other. The Praetorian Palace belongs to the central architecture monuments in Koper. The cathedral was built in the second half of the 12th century and enlarged in the 15th century. From Town Tower is a marvellous view to the city and surroundings.

Town Tower - BelfryTown Tower with the belfry is situated in the Tito Square. It is very attractive panoramic point from where you can see the city with the surrounding. To the belfry goes 204 steps. The tower is 54 metres high. The Bell Tower used to be part of a Roman fortification.

Brolo SquareBrolo Square got the present image in the Baroque times. In the middle of the square is a nice park with a former well. In the square you can see the Town Tower, the Vissich-Nardi Palace, Fontico-former granary, the Church of St. Jacob, Elio Palace, Brutti Palace, Gravisi-Barbabianca Palace and many other. The Gravisi-Barbabianca Palace is one of the most prominent Koper's Baroque palaces from the year 1710. In the Brutti Palace is the seat of the central library.

City Baths KoperCity Baths are located near the Marina Koper. They are the main and the only baths in the town. The baths have lost of natural shadow under the trees, playground for children, showers and many other. There is a bar for drink and the confectionery. Near the baths is a parking place.

Marina KoperMarina Koper is situated near the old town centre. It is a modern transit port and good protected from the wind. The marina offers quality service for maintenance and repair of engines, sails, electronic equipment and other. In Marina Koper is the restaurant Skipper, where they have delicious fish food, top level wines and exotic dishes.
