The Kozmikfish lens

This lens has been created in connection with my new website kozmikfish.co.uk and a blog. The main purpose is to promote and improve my writing with particular emphasis on writing scripts for radio and television.

Ideally, it will all act as a central meeting place to allow people to network, discuss, collaborate and just enjoy the pleasure of creative writing.

Comedy Detective novels published.

The cases are hard to crack and the homour is lavatorial!!

The adventures of an amateur gentleman detective of the late Victorian era. Raucously funny, full of schoolboy humour and innuendo...a departure from my usual serious writing!

Containing Adventures Three and Four.

On a more serious note...

A Symbolic Autobiography

My collection of poetry and prose has also been published.

The Kozmikfish blog

for all things kozmik

The blog is still in the very early stages, not even certain about the layout on this one just yet, but the site, lens and blog have all been launched this weekend, so I know there will be a bit of tinkering to do on them!

The kozmikfish

The kozmikfish likes healing music, the tones that lift you into earshot of the Dralas and the Angels. He doesn't like unhealthy tunes, the low and the thumping and the monotonous bass bumping...he knows it is bad for the lower chakras, bad for the kozmikfish, bad for the world. The kozmikfish seeks uplifting currents, good stories, inspiring scripts. Words and deeds that uplift the spirit and seek to enhance our experience of the world and not cheapen it.

My Favourite Films

A list, in no particular order, of some of the films that have inspired, entertained and impressed me. Not a complete list by any means but, certainly, cinema that deserves being returned to again and again.

Amelie

Just a great movie. Great casting, good music, wonderful plot line. Not heavy or serious and I suspect a few film lovers would dismiss it as light and fluffy but it just cheers me up when I watch it. What greater thing can something do than elevate your mood!

Amazon Price: $14.99 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

The dark side of Amelie! (or Audrey) Really good film, probably my favourite Tautou film.

Amazon Price: $23.99 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

The Sergio Leone Anthology (A Fistful Of Dollars / For A Few Dollars More / The Good, The Bad And The Ugly / Duck, You Sucker)

Loved these as a boy, still think they are good movies. Westerns at their best. One could argue they reinvigorated the genre of the western, they certainly added new strands to it.

Amazon Price: $38.49 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

Manon of the Spring (Manon des sources) - Original Theatrical Version [Import, All-Region] (Dvd)

A great film. The final scenes just turn things on their head, great cinema.

Cinema Paradiso (Two-Disc Deluxe Edition)

A film about film, lovingly shot, well directed. Great cinema.

Amazon Price: $18.99 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

Silent Running

I remember seeing this film for the first time and been struck by it. For a film to rely on just one actor is a real challenge for both actor and director. The only inter-personal relationship being created by the interaction with three robots. A poignant tale of ecological theme with a soundtrack featuring the voice of Joan Baez.

Amazon Price: $8.99 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

Pan's Labyrinth

Love the Fairy tale aspect and the different ways this film can be read. It could all just be in the mind of the girl or...

Once you watch a few of this director's films you become familiar with re-occurring themes present in his work that add to the richness and meanings within the film.

Amazon Price: $7.49 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

The Devil's Backbone (Special Edition)

In some ways I preferred this to Pan's Labyrinth. Not a massive fan of the horror genre but these films have a certain texture that elevates them from the rest.

Amazon Price: $9.99 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

A Very Long Engagement

I just like Audrey Tautou! This is a lovely film. A rich cinematic style and a good story.

Amazon Price: $13.49 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

The Fisher King

I am interested in Arthurian Mythology and The Grail Legend and this film has a very interesting take on these themes.

Amazon Price: $10.99 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

Mulholland Drive

I enjoy cinema that plays with time, perceptions of reality and that challengers the viewer to engage with it.

Amazon Price: $12.99 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

Donnie Darko - The Director's Cut (Two-Disc Special Edition)

As above really.

Amazon Price: $14.99 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

Brazil

I realise there is a bit of a theme with director's I like!

Amazon Price: $7.99 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

8 Women

Now there is an eclectic taste! Brazil followed by 8 women! It is just an interesting use of the cinematic medium, has some great casting and a film well worth watching. Anything with Emmanuelle Beart is worth watching in my opinion.

Amazon Price: $13.49 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (Widescreen Edition)

Another "Messing with your head" film! Guess part of me wishes I could erase a few people from my mind.

Amazon Price: $6.99 (as of 07/10/2009) Buy Now
