Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a large tree native to Southeast Asia largly in Thailand and Malaysia. It is widely renoun for its medicinal leaf.

Kratom trees are harvested for their leaves. The leaves are then processed into the many varieties of kratom available on the market today. Most kratom is processed into powder or the leaves dried and crushed used widely for kratom tea. Kratom leaves also undergoe an extraction process whereby much of the moistur and impurities are removed and efforts made to isolate a specific alkaloid providing a very potent kratom extract. The main active alkaloid that provide kratom with it's sought after effects is said to be 7-hydroxymitragynine.

Chronic Pain
Chronic pain has plagued many people, kratom gives those who prefer not to engage in prescribed medications an opportunity to find relief while remaining free of pharmaceutical equivalents.
Treatment for Drug Addiction
Drug addiction is major issue as we all know. Many have turned to kratom as a treatment for opiate addiction and as an alternative to methadone. Kratom's ability to be a treatment solution is due in part to the fact that kratom stimulates some of the same opiate receptors in the brain. While kratom may not satisfy all those looking for treatment there are a growing many who have found kratom to be an effective liberator.
Sleep Disorders
This may be one of the less talked about benefits of kratom. Due to kratom's ability to provide sedative effects it has been used as a method to help induce sleep for those who have major sleep disorders.
