What is a Krewe?

The tradionalists will tell you that a real krewe MUST:

(a) hold a parade which,
(b) utilizes floats and/or bands
(c) has the celebration of Carnival as it's main purpose.
(d) hold a ball

Strictly speaking, that is technically correct. However, the term has evolved to be more encompassing and is often used to include clubs groups and organizations that participate in Carnival and other celebrational parades throughout the year.

Read on to learn more about krewes. You'll find links, photos, parade schedules, merchandise and more. Feel free to add your own krewe links in the comments section. But, most importantly, remember this: You don't have to let the parade pass you by. You can be part of it. Join a krewe!
