The World Famous KSHE-95!

Ranked #5,113 in Music, #142,722 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund, Earthjustice

Now That's What I Call KSHE!!!

My very first and therefore, dearest to my heart FM Rock station in the entire World is KSHE95 which was founded in 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri as a progressive rock station on the FM waves playing music geared toward women thus K-SHE... the station's mascot is a pot smoking pig named, Sweetmeat! the station is not nearly as outrageous as they came across in the early days yet they continue to rock out and I would venture to say, When the Gates of Hell are Closed, KSHE will still be Rockin`!!!

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL K-SHE!!!

Every year for Labor Day Weekend, K-SHE invites Her listeners to submit playlists of their favorite K-SHE music, about enough for an hour's worth of airplay which is what they play all weekend long for the holiday. This is the playlist I wanted to submit... but I am having technical difficulties locating where to submit it on their wepage!LOL!

Just a Suggestion...

if you click on my Playlist link above, then click the "Play All" selection;
you will be able to listen to my entire Playlist while perusing my K-SHE Lens;) it's fun background music that I believe completes the entire experience of this Lens.

My Playlist

is a compilation of my earliest K-SHE memories

type=text

I started listening to K-SHE around my 10th birthday in 1967 which is when they officially took the airwaves as they are now registered out of Crestwood, Missouri. K-SHE originally broadcast from the founders basement;) the entire story is just so Rock`n`Roll to begin with! KSHE Rocks my Planet!!!

QUADROPHENIA- Love, Reign O'er Me

Quadrophenia is the sixth album by the English rock band The Who. Released on 19 October 1973, Quadrophenia is a double album, and the group's second rock opera. Its story involves social, musical, and psychological happenings from an English teenage perspective, set in London and Brighton in 1964 and 1965. The name is a variation on the incorrect popular usage of the medical diagnostic term schizophrenia as multiple personality disorder to reflect the four distinct personalities of Jimmy, the opera's protagonist-each said to represent the personality of one member of The Who. The title also referenced the Quadraphonic sound schemes then being introduced.

A new book about KSHE lovingly documents St. Louis music history

John NeimanMichael McDonaldForest ParkThe Who (Band)RadioA new book, In Concert: KSHE and 40+ Years of Rock in St. Louis, is more than just a history of the radio station. As its title implies, the coffee-table tome lovingly chronicles high points in St. Louis rock & roll history through words (concert recollections, interviews with musicians, DJ and photographer profiles) and graphics (a jaw-dropping collection of photos, ads and memorabilia). But don't mistake In Concert for a provincial narrative. To the contrary, the book is more of a pop-culture scrapbook, one documenting the cultural history of the rock revolution as experienced here in the Midwest.

The book spotlights KSHE's formative rock acts and employees through lively interviews and colorful anecdotes. Local appearances by the greats (the Who, the Doors, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, the Stones and Pink Floyd) merit their own sidebars. In Concert covers the area's rock roots with the studied eye of a scholar, from lengthy histories of clubs, such as the Castaway and Rainy Daze, to annual outdoor concert series the Metro East's Mississippi River Festival. Also recalled: KSHE's own successful promotions such as the Kite Fly concerts in Forest Park, its legendary birthday parties, the rebel-pig mascot, Sweetmeat, and the Seeds local-music compilations.

The Tarpeian Rock

was the infamous execution place for traitors

type=text

They would be led to its top and then hurled down. The cliff takes its name from the tale of the Vestal Virgin Tarpeia, who betrayed the Romans by letting the Sabines in through the gates after being promised to receive what they 'bore on their arms'. Naturally she hoped for their golden bracelets, instead she was crushed to death between their shields. Her body was buried atop the cliff, giving it its name. This is where my name originates in history.

The Tarpeian Rock in the Quatrains of Nostradamus:

Century III.--Quatrain 96:

A prince of Fossano shall have his throat cut
By the keeper of his hounds and greyhounds:
The attempt will be made by those of the Tarpeian rock,
Saturn being in Leo on 13th February.
