Perhaps you've been looking at different makes and models of stand mixers and are starting to get confused by the lingo.

The purpose of this lens is to get you more familiar with the Artisan Series of KitchenAid mixers and to teach you about what makes the KSM150PSER different from other stand mixers.

KSM150PSER Specifications
The Artisan Series of stand mixers all have a few things in common.
1. They come in funky different colors. Some stores have exclusive rights to sell certain colors. A very popular color is the KSM150PSPK Pink Cook for the Cure stand mixer. A portion of the profits from each sale are donated to breast cancer research.
2. 325 Watt Motor
3. 5-Quart Bowl
4. Flower Power rating of 9 cups. This means you can make 4 loaves of bread, 9 dozen cookies, or 7 pounds of mashed potatoes in one bowl. (most people place more importance on Flower Power than watts).
5. Tilt-back mixer head (some other mixers feature the bowl-lift design).
6. 10 speeds

Is the KSM150PSER KitchenAid the right stand mixer for you?
Too Cold, Too Hot, or Just Right?
Big Brother, the Professional 600 Series stand mixer, is for people who plan on making A LOT of bread. One very popular model in the 600 Series of KitchenAid stand mixers is the KP26M1XNP.
Little Brother, the KitchenAid Classic, is for people who don't plan on making much bread, if at all. If your main interest is cookies, cakes, and muffins, you might be better off with the Classic model.
However, for just a few more dollars you might want to consider an Artisan mixer, which would allow you to move into more bread-making in the future should your interests and taste-buds change down the road!
The Classic stand mixer is perfectly capable of making bread, but in recent tests performed by Cook's Illustrated, the Artisan and Professional stand mixers did much better. The Classic stand mixer is also only available in white--pretty boring if you ask me. :-)
The Pefect Compliment to Your KSM150PSER Artisan Stand Mixer
Very helpful, lots of explanations and tips. Couldn't work without it. If you splashed out for the mixer, splash out for the book. It's as essential as the power cord.
