A Comprehensive Martial Arts System

Kuk Sool Won™ is a systematic study of all of the traditional fighting arts, which together comprise the martial arts history of Korea. As such, Kuk Sool Won™ is extremely well organized and seeks to integrate and explore all aspects of the traditional Korean martial arts.

As a martial arts system, Kuk Sool Won™ covers the entire spectrum of established Asian fighting arts and body conditioning techniques, as well as mental development and traditional weapons training. The following list includes some, but by no means all, of the elements of Kuk Sool Won™.

HAND TECHNIQUES

LEG TECHNIQUES

THROWING and GRAPPLING

JOINT-LOCKING TECHNIQUES

FALLING TECHNIQUES and ACROBATICS

BODY CONDITIONING

ANIMAL-STYLE TECHNIQUES

TRADITIONAL KOREAN WEAPONS

MARTIAL ART HEALING METHODS

MEDITATION and BREATHING TECHNIQUES

As you can see, Kuk Sool Won™ covers an extensive variety of martial art techniques. But it is not merely concerned with methods of attack and defense, Kuk Sool Won™ also includes the study of healing techniques and the development of internal power, in addition to the physical training. Mental development is of equal importance in Kuk Sool Won™ and helps to instill self-confidence and self-discipline, a calm self-assurance, and the psychological and spiritual values which are traditionally associated with the character of a martial artist.

Although Kuk Sool Won™ as it is practiced today is relatively new, its roots stretch far and deep to the very beginnings of the Korean people. This early history and the ancient traditions upon which this art is founded should be viewed as important as the physical techniques themselves, for it is only from the understanding and appreciation of these classical roots that one is able to grow as a student of the martial arts.

My experience with this martial art

limited as may be...

I have been doing Kuk Sool Won for approx. 4 months now and it has been a blast. I used to do Tae Kwon Do awhile back so it was not as bad as being a first time martial artist by my instructor is tough on me and the other student. It is a small class that I have now but thats much better then larger classes because we get more one on one time with the instructor, though I do believe we need more for variety of learning opportunities.

My favorite is the joint locking because it is interesting to see how many bones you can break in a matter of seconds...but really its a excellent way to stop a attacker with minimal force or strength and that means even small girls can take down large attackers providing they have good technique.

If your interested in taking a self defense course or learn more about this martial arts just google it and/or buy the books and learn more about this amazing martial art. By the way, this gentlemen you see here is In Hyuk Suh, the grandmaster of Kuk Sool Won and created it in 1958. He is a very experience martial artist and his martial arts will surely be a great self defense and body conditioning asset for everybody.
